i have read several post that cleaning the throttle body is one of the first things to do when your rig is having idle issues, hesitations, and etc. Though majority of these issues pertain to the i6 trailvoys.
is the process the same for cleaning out the v8 TB as it is on the i6?

Same process just a little different location....easier to get to on the V8

And the V8 has a proper PCV valve, so the gunk build-up happens at a much slower rate.

Yep... I went to clean mine at 40k miles, and it was almost totally spotless... Finger was still clean after wiping it... Of course, I only use AC Delco air filters, too...

Mine had 160000 km (V8) when I cleaned the throttle body, but it really wasn't that bad. I don't think it is as common a source of problems in the V8.

I cleaned mine when I did the Efan install this past weekend.....at 25k it had a nice black film, not that bad, but still cleaned it....between the fans and the cleanup it feels great on the old Butt Dyno.

What filter do you run?

K&N, I clean it every 3 months.....also have to say I work for a large steel vessel manufacturing shop and we blast most of our vessels outside due to their size and there is a ton of sand and dirt in the air around our plant....luckily we are in the middle of nowhere, but it could play hell on air filters, especially sice it is such a fine dust.

OK, that's why, then... K&N only catches 96% of dirt, and the OEM filter catches 99.97%
If you were running OEM, I was going to say you've got a leak somewhere in your intake plumbing, but that's about right for a K&N...

ETA: just saw your edit... That shouldn't matter much, unless your engine is running at the time... You'll get a little more driving in and out of the parking lot, but shouldn't matter much, in the grand scheme of things...
