just yesterday my a/c started smelling like antifreeze would that be my heater core leaking or what?

That's possible, but one thing that is impossible is the existence of a 1999 Trailblazer....They came out in mid-late 2001 as a 2002...Your floor would probably be soaked if your core went, depending on the specific location of the leak... :( By the way, welcome to TBECentral, Matt, and good luck in determining the problem and fixing it...

I think you should have an in cab air filter. That may need to be changed. Check your owners manual. Mine was stinking in my one Tahoe and it had some dead bugs and molding leafs in it. The antifreeze smell however may be a whole nother issue. Not sure there.

TBlazeruss44-
There is such a thing as a 1999 Trail Blazer. It was (I think) an option package on a select few Blazers between 1999-2000. I dont think it was very successful, as I have only seen one, and it definately was not a 2002+ TB. It was still the old Blazer body. Also, I am pretty sure that Chevy called the Blazer the Trail Blazer back in the late 80s into the very early 90s before they updated the body style to what we now know as the Blazer/Jimmy.

That's not true. The current body style came out in late 2001 as a 2002, yes. However they made them on the same platform as the S10 Blazer during the 1999-2001 model years. ;)

I don't think there was ever a TrailBlazer in the 80s-90s, either. I know they called the first S10 blazers "S10 Tahoe" or "S10 Durango" but never TB that I ever heard. And the fullsize blazers were called the K5 (being built at the same time, until K5 blazer just became a Tahoe/Yukon). :m2:
There are actually quite a few old-style TBs out there, but they aren't plentiful in some areas. I see quite a few of them around here in my area. I think people liked them so much (and complained about the high price) that they just decided to adopt that name for the new platform when it debuted as a 2002 model.

I don't think there was a cabin filter available on the old s-series trucks, if I'm recalling my '98 correctly. At least, I should say my loaded 1998 LT (before the TB option package was available in 99) didn't have one.
The antifreeze smell does sound like either your heater core (located behind the passenger side dash) or maybe your intake manifold (I had an astro van with the same 4.3 vortec in it before my 98 blazer on which the manifold cracked and leaked coolant into several sections of the engine and running components) could be bad. If it was indeed the heater core, I agree with the thought that you would have wet carpet on the passenger side floor.
First thing I'd try is running an A/C odor eliminator (available at your local autoparts supplier like NAPA, PartsPlus, etc.) to see if it clears the problem out, and then failing that take it to a shop/dealer. Also check the coolant level in the truck (using the overflow resevoir to test level) and see if it's particularly "dirty" coolant.
Just another suggestion since most folks here have the "new style" TB, you might also want to ask over at http://s-seriesforum.com/ or http://www.s10forums.com/ since they would have the same truck mechanically as you have. :m2:

Thanks for the clarification Charlie. I was under the impression most GM's within the last 10 years or so had cabin filters.

Surprisingly there are many that dont. Our family also has several late model buicks in it, and nither our 98 or 01 century, nor the 99 or 03 regals have one. Also I don't think the TB/Envoy have one though I could be mistaken. :m2:
I have also worked on a few late model pontiacs lately, and the 03 bonneville I did had one, whereas the 03 Aztek didn't. Guess it's not a hard and fast rule, but it really doesn't make sense what models do vs. don't have them IMO.

Yep, your right. I was thinking about the S10 Blazer, not a TrailBlazer. I'm sorry I cant help you with your a/c problem. :( I know someone here will know what is wrong! :D

Yeah the Trailblazer and Envoy do not have a cabin air filter. At least my 04 doesn't. Maybe the 05's do?
