I have a 03tb no ext and its a daily driver. I want to get more punch out of it. I read about these tuners on the forum but i am not very familiar with them. My friend had one on his 96 chevy and man did it jam but he was also going thru trannys like every six months. what kinda of tuners do you guys use and what gains do you see? what sideeffects?? is it something the averago tb user can do or do i need to take it to a mechanic?

thanks

There are several other threads dedicated to this issue. Just look. I have the Westers tune. Throttle response is much improved, and overall excelleration is definately better. I'm sure more of that has to do with the removal of GM's infamous torque management. I've seen no improvement in gas mileage though.

No improvement in gas mileage b/c you are utilizing that previously untapped POWER.

I don't think so. I tracked my mileage for about 3000 miles before the Westers and nearly 4000 miles since. Pretune average was 16.18, and post tune is 16.64. A marginal increase. Although I'm a leadfoot on occasion, the bulk of my driving is on the highway commuting to work (60 miles round trip). The best I've squeezed out was 20.8 on a 100 mile cruise at 62mph.

I definitely haven't kept a log of my mileage like that. I know my gas mileage hasn't increased as a result of my lead foot. Wonder why you haven't seen a better gain than that? Either way, you didn't spend all that $$$ just to save $$$ in gas did you? You will never break even if that's the fact.:m2:

Oh, no. For the most part I'm very happy with the performance gains and imprvements in drivability. I just was expecting at least some measurable increase in mileage.
