How many miles did you guys get out of your stock brake pads? I bought the EXT with 14 miles and I just hit 31000 on my trip to Cincy. Now the brakes are squeaking when I apply medium to heavy pressure. Not light pressure though.
I'm eventually going to get better pads when I change them anyway (Hawk, most likely). Do you think that now may be the time?

take off a tire and have a look. look down from the top of the caliper and you should be able to see the amout of pad left
i replaced mine at around 50k miles; don't know if they were OE (bought the car with 30K miles on it) but they looked like they were probably 60-70% worn. or do the deed, take all your rotors off and get them resurfaced and get new pads. couldn't hurt.

Brake life is more dependent on driver and environment than just about anything, including gas mileage. Living in Pittsburgh, you are faced with a lot of downhill driving and subsequent brake wear. If you do a lot of in-city driving, you do more braking than someone driving across the state on the freeway. I have over 62K on my original brakes and there still good to go (stop). Most of my driving is all freeway, though. You could be looking at brakes considering where you live.

I have over 33K on mine with the OE pads still on it. When I had the new tires put on it back at 28K, the pads were looked at and they still looked new.

I have 88k miles on the ORIGINAL brakes on my 03 LT SWB; I do a mix of DC Driving (HEAVY) and Highway. I bought the truck with 8 miles on it, so I've been good to her. Done some towing too.....I'm going to do them as soon as it's 70's again.......They still work and don't squeak, but I know there's nothing left on them.....
44k and still around 6/32s left. They squeek a little when they are cold, espeically backing up but you only back up once anyways.
The rotors had to be "turned" though because they started to warp at 25k.

I have like 59,8xx and still am on the original pads and rotors and tow regularly (approx 4K lbs) in the summer. I got new tires at 53K and asked Les Schwab to check my brakes, they said I still had like 40-50% left. I had them check it again when I had my tires rotated about 600mi ago, and they said they are basically the same. And, I drive pretty hard and brake hard too, but they have started to develope a slight vib under medium braking, so I think after I get my exhaust figured out, brakes will be next before boating season comes (and get a tranny cooler too).

i have learned and taught you get what you pay for from brakes. you have to remember those pads and rotors are stopping 5k worth of metal in motion :m2:

I had very good luck with the OE brake pads on my TB even with the westin grille gaurd on it I got almost 84K out of them and I replaced them and the rotors. I used bendix "SUV" grade brake pads and have no squeaks and they grab a lot quicker than the OE ones.
I had to replace my OEM pads at about 30k miles so check yours before you do some serious damage to your calipers! If you damage those itll cost you some big :m2:
