can we get a sticky going of quarter mile times. I would like to know wat everybody has on their truck, and wat it runs in the quarter. I run a 15.7@89.xx with i/e 02 tb 4x4. Still need to go with my giggle gas.

Why would anyone want to take their SUV to the track, unless it was a TBSS, which isn't even out yet?

I guess I should re-word my inquiry. I don't think many people here have a setup worth taking it to the track for. I guess if you're running a bottle, or a V8 with some add on's, then it makes sense.

Although, I'd be concerned about the I6 being able to handle many of those shots. I suppose its a good excuse to wedge a V8 in there once she blows though.

Some that are planning mods to increase performance like to do a before and after with track runs. It gives them an idea if they are really getting more performance from their vehicle. :m2:

Nah, I'll rely on the butt-dyno for that comparison, and take it to the track once I have all my stuff installed and dialed in. :m2:

There's nothing wrong with taking your TB to the track. It's no worse than showing up with a stock Honda Civic. I have a '94 Mustang that I race on a fairly regular basis. You'd be surprised what some people race. If you don't want the pressure of competition, take it to a "Test & Tune" session. Most local tracks run these on a regular basis.

Good Luck and have fun with it.

why would some1 take their tb to the track? Its called bracket racing. Its hard too loose with a slow auto car lol. Get ure reaction down and ure good to win the pot. Neway im surpised ure tb went 15.7 @ 89, what gears do u have in that thing?

Dude, you gotta quit writing like your talking down to people. We know what bracket racing is.

BTW, its more difficult to be consistent (within a tenth) driving a 17 second car, than it is a 12 second car. So I don't understand your point about winning with a slow car.

That is, unless you're like me and have a horrible reaction time -- I'm plenty consistent at artifically slow runs!! :o

I agree though, usually the 12 second cars are the ones that have been 'dialed-in' for consistent performance. :m2:

theres classes, at my track its b1 b2 b3, b3 is 15.00 and up. Usualy b3 is filled with civics and other fwd cars that do not run drag radials or slicks, therefore its very easy to win with a automatic slow car. You dont have to worry about traction, the truck will run within .1 each time as long as u nail your reaction time. B2 is 13.00 to 14.99 and b1 is 12.99 and down. I never said it easy to win against a 12.00 drag car, i said its easy to win the pot, the pot being seperate for each class. btw how am i talking people down?

and im still curious to what gears he has in that thing because a 15.7 @ 89 sounds a lil too fast for me. 89 mph in a truck is pretty damn fast, i know my truck doesnt feel like its going to be trapping high 80s. But maybe its just me

headlight mod? Do you mean like the Grand Prix GTP and Regal GS guys do, running with the passenger headlight removed to help more air get to the intake?

I saw a video of a truck (a Ford I think) pull a quarter in the 10s. Of course it was smoking all the way polluting everyone's environment. It was a diesel and I'm sure it was tuned for max power, most gas, most smog.

If you guys want to see some pretty cool fast rides, just check out www.1320video.com Parish has his turbo'd 4wd Silverado over there. He is a member of FullsizeChevy.com. Nice guy. My family and I race almost every Friday at MIR (Maryland International Raceway). We have a Mustang in the Real Street class (8.60's :D ) on a 10" slick. Talk about sucking when you get in your daily driver. That is why I liked racing bikes so much. Lots of bang for the buck. I say it constantly, our I6's have potential, just going to take someone with time and money to show it. There was that twin turbo concept I6 Trailblazer. That thing was sick.

no questions its just wierd how a truck gains 20mph in the back 1/8th, what gear do u finish in? Also if you could give me an estimate of where your first and second gear ends. LIke mph wise

IceN
06-29-2005, 08:11 PM
i finish at the top of third. The reason my mph shoot up like that is i hit my "powerband" which is fron 65- to about 90 where my tb just takes off. My low end is bad because of my very-freeflowing exhaust (2.75in dynomax bullet dumped at the rear axle), but as soon as i get to 65 it shoots off like a rocket.
