Hi, there. I am an owner of at 2003 TB Northface Edition extended wheel base, with the V8 with 15,000 miles.

Does anyone have trouble with their transmission being delayed between gears and banging into gear hard. I have had this look at several times at the local dealer and I am told its the computer modulator that needs to be adjusted every time.

Also, when I let the TB sit idle for a few moments, when you first start to take off again it make a whining noise, common problem???

help..please

It would hard to condemn any singular components or component(s) in a discussion, but I would be very curious about the transmission internals. I would say you dealership has used the correct approach, as their are many PCM reflashes which address/enhance shift quality concerns. But considering the lingering concern, reflashing only goes so far. Has anyone from the dealership service department taken a ride/road test the vehicle with you to experience the concern? Have you driven a likeable vehicle for comparative reasons? There are a few service bulletins...one which address harsh 1-2 shifts and another, which I believe address delayed/no 2-3 shifts and other concerns. I can retrieve these bulletin numbers if you wish. The whine noise could also be transmission related, but their is a bulletin that advises not to mistake excessive cluch fan noise for a transmission related noise.
I think if you have the ability to demonstrate the concern to the dealership and it is not a normal concern, I do not see any reason why a repair cannot be made.
