Exhaust Tech 101 !

I am new to the Trailblzer game. I just got my 06 5.3 Short body 2wd TB. It is the lightest of all TB's and is finally available with the 5.3 motor. I love it but want a better sound. Now,,,,, The round can type silencer in the rear by the bumper................resonator?? or Muffler?????

The giant 3 ft long thing under the car look like a muffler. I was going to replace the rear"thing" with a magnaflow muffler 7" round and the same pipe dia..(easy-they are almost identical). BUT>>>> if it's only a resonator(probably straight thru) ,why don't I just eliminate that and put a straight pipe in it's place out the rear?? With that giant muffler(if that's what it is), how loud could it be?? Has anyone done this on the V8's ?????? What have you guys done to your V8 exhausts and how do they sound??

ALso, Vector Motorsports says you can't run the cold air induction on this without a chip. Since $600+(re tune and cold air kit) for 13 hp isn't worth it to me,,, Can I still put the K & N in(pt E-1009) and have no re-tune necessary??

Realllllly quick though... Yes. Resonator at the end. Yes. 3 ft long thing is muffler.

We're getting dumped on with snow right now so the TB probably won't leave the garage until the end of the week (if the roads are dry). I'm hoping to maybe get the exhaust done Saturday, if not then maybe next week.

Looking forward to your final results. :yes: I'm waiting till someone gets duals with no drone. If I could get the interior sound of the Impala SS (with that 5.3L 303 HP engine) I would have it done on my Envoy.

We'll see about the drone part. I've been using Flowmaster for so many years that my ears might no longer be able to detect drone. :laugh:

I'll be doing to 50 Delta Flow which doesn't seem to drone on other vehicles I've put it on.
