:undecided Thinking of something someone said to me about the motor oil.
GM put synthetic oil in the engine...this person who is a LS1 trans-am guy said I should dump the synthetic ..change with regular oil...do the break in with regular oil...then put the synthetic back......This was of course when I first bought the TBSS 3 months ago.....
Point being..that the synthetic works so good that the pistons might not seat right in the cylinder for the first 5000 miles and might hurt the compresion a little....does that sound right to anyone??
I never changed out the oil fear of warrenty issues if something major would have happen.
Could this be the reason for the rough idle some of us are getting?????Compresion Problem

if that's what they put in there, they know what they're doing, why would they waist the added cost of putting Synthetic in there if it caused more harm than good? I heard the same thing about newly "built" Motors (after market) but these Motors are designed to use this oil. it sucks we don't have even one GM engineer that is on here to help us out, what are these guys driving, Mercedes??

:iagree: When I put a crate motor in my S Blazer, the guys at the shop told me to break it in w/ dino, than switch to syn. I asked why, as 'vettes and others come from the factory w/ syn. They told me that the motors that came w/ syn were designed that way, but for the poor folks like me, syn would not allow for as good of a seal during the break in period. So, thats what I did. I did change my TB to syn on my second change, round 5100. my:m2:
