I just came back from Meineke, and gotta quote got a catback setup. Hey quoted me $825 for a dual Borla type setup (Flowmaster 40) and $780 for a single out Denali type tip install. I prefer the Denali type, but that sounds awfully high, since I've seen some people around here get single out catbacks done for less than $400. So is he trying to rip me off?

I've heard other people here get exhaust work, so I didn't think that they were so bad, pricewise :weird:

I payed a total of 170 bucks for a flowmaster 40 series, glasspack, and a chrome tip. This also included all labor. Pics are in my gallery. So what ever price they told you its a rip off.

From a local shop, or from Meineke?

The thing about Meineke is that they dont use standard pipe sizes. For example, if you buy a 3" exhaust setup, it will be measured in OD, not ID like most exhaust shops will use, so you're getting a smaller pipe.

for 100 bucks more you could get a brand new borla. I would check a few more places...you should be able to get it done between 3 and 400 bucks.

that is exactly what i was thinking
just shop around, get 3-5 estimates and pick who you liked the best and the best price, even if they are an unknown local shop.:)

Well, thats definately higher than what mine will cost me. Right now Im at $375 with tax, but will be getting a glasspack installed tomorrow (really, they ordered the wrong length one this time:duh: ) for about $45. So, with a chrome tip, Magnaflow muffler, and glasspack in Seattle, Im not complaining. Plus, when the guy was test fitting the glasspack today, I got to check out his bends for the first time, and they are pretty darn clean IMO. Im not complaining, but he joked he could do duals for me, but I think now Ive put right about the amount I wanted into my system, and dont really want to spend more for looks now.

I have never had a Meineke shop rip me off and I have had several exhaust put on over the past 10 years or so. My latest on the TB with a flowmaster 40 and glasspack was under 200, so you are being ripped off. If I went with a dual system it would have only been probably another 150.

And this was for a full catback setup?

Yep, pretty mutch. It is from the pipe flange from where the beginning of the 30 inch OEM trash can muffler started and that is where they installed the Flowmaster 40.

1 word: Drone.
All of the kit exhausts do not have resonators and will drone like mofos forever. I know I spent a little more, but I also got 3" pipe from about 1ft after the cat (before the flange even) and all the way throughout. All the kits I have seen are 2.5 or 2.75, not 3. And, I also got to pick which muffler I got too, something you cant on retail kits.
It comes down to personal preference, I looked at getting a retail kit, but decided I wanted to have one done with the Magnaflow muffler I wanted.
