Would a different muffler like magnaflow stop that sound?

Nope...metal expands when hot and contracts as it cools. The larger the surface, the more the expansion/contraction. Since we have some big-azz exhaust pipes we get some awesome sound effects that the little rice-bangers could only wish for. :dielaugh:

Actually, I think it is the fan clutch ticking. It does on my 02 TB, I have popped the hood and put my ear close (not on) to the fan and it ticks a little.

Yes! I am not alone - it is not a fan but it is the exhaust...

It does it for a good 10-15 minutes after parking - especially noticable while in the garage.

I was going to ask someone if this is common but I guess it is.

It is the exhaust cooling. It has happened on all my vehicles. You're not alone.

Ohh, and I also have that sound too!!! :duh:

Yep, it is a combo of both for me, I can definately hear the fan ticking ever so slightly when I open the hood, but the exhaust does tick when cooling off.

Mines is doing it even when the car is running and has been driven to opperating temps. Not just when it is turned off.
Should it do it when its running?

If you turn your radio up louder the sound should go away :rotfl:

Yes I have the same issue on my 05 trailblazer, I beleive that it isnt a normal condition and is a defect in the exhaust system. I have driven many trailblazers and dont remember ever hearing this noise. It is definatly the exhaust system and if under warranty you should try to get them to replace this.

It's the metal in the exhaust. Mine does it when at operating temp, and when idling, and when off and cooling. I think it gets some air as it's running and cools enough to contract the metal a little, so you get the tick. I've been outside mine when idling and hear it. No problems. Sounds like an empty, metallic, hollow click sometimes, and like a small, rapid tick at times.
