I am a new user so bear with me. I have just purchased a 02 Trailblazer and it is hung in 4LO. There is no light on the 4WD switch located on the dash. It has no effect regardles of wheere I turn this swicth. No sounds of the motor engaging on the transfer case. Any ideas before I take it to the costly GM dealer. Is there a fuse that could possibly be blown?:duh:

This is the SS forum. Ask a mod to move your question to the appropriate forum and you'll get more help. ...and Welcome to TrailVoy!

Had a similar problem on my '02... think it is a TSB. Have to take it to a dealership. It is a computer thing, had to replace a module or something like that. Too long ago to remember.

Welcome!

(Please post in the correct section next time, the SS guys dont have 4WD, only AWD and the setups are different.)

But, it is either a 4WD switch issue or a transfer case encoder motor issue. The switch is like $30, but the new encoder motor is $400-500 installed.

Take it to a dealer and see what they say about it.

I've had issues where it stuck in 2Hi - and it required a trip to the dealer to replace a blown module. It was under warranty, so I don't know how much it cost, but the symptoms were the same - no lights at the switch and couldn't change modes.

It definitely sounds like a bad electronic module. This was a frequent issue with 2002s and early 2003s.

Welcome to Trailvoy by the way.

Try shutting the car off and on for a bit till the light comes back on . I had it happen to me before.
