I know I shouldn't have fall for the fuel injection fuel service.. but since the fuel filter was due for replacement (60,000 Kms)... and had a $20 off coupon.. oh well..
and the outcome is: I love it! :D
I can't believe how smooth is that TB... It idles smoother than my 05' Cadillac.. yes that nice.
The TB was not bad but I could see the RPM needle moving when the car was idling.. now.. rock solid.
So if you want to get that smooth engine back, try this service. In my view it was very good.
Then I got new sway bar links (front and rear) so the car is basically 100% tight and quiet just like a brand new car. This is incredible! I was so happy that I went back and bought the license plate gasket, bug deflector, mud flaps, etc.. she deserved it :)

You can also do this at home; get a can of SeaFoam (OReilly and Advanced auto parts have it) pull the brake booster vacuum hose and let it suck it thru the engine. Be ready for the smoke show. I gained 4 MPG at 65k by doing this.

I tried the Sea Foam on a 99 monte carlo that I had.... she started burning oil and running rough. It might have been just that car but I don't think I'm going to do it to my 02 TB.:duh:

I use Amsoil Powerfoam which is very similar to seafoam except it is an aerosal that you spary in the throttle body while the engine is running. I use seafoam in the gas tank. I have been using this in every car I own for 10 years and never had problems. If you put too much in at one time you can hydrolock the motor and break stuff which is why I stick with the aerosal. Seems to be a little easier to control the flow. Just makes me feel more comfortable. I have heard allot of good thing about sea foam but I prefer my aerosal Powerfoam. One other perk is the aerosal cleans the Throttle body at the same time. It is a good idea to clean the TB good from time to time so I kill 2 birds with one stone. I use powerfoam directly before every oil change to prevent any build up of crud.
Always get weird looks from the neighbors when I pull out of the driveway in a huge cloud of smoke when you go drive to burn the stuff out.

I'm at 69K and a 4 mpg gain would be incredible. might have to try this one.

amsoil powerfoam can be found at the amsoil website or you have to find an independant dealer. Seafoam is at most autoparts stores. I have got seafoam at autozone and advanced auto parts.

Seafoam deep-creep aerosol works well, as does any over the counter spray intake cleaner for that matter. CRC makes a readily available throttle body spray cleaner. You really dont want to over do it with intake cleaning as it puts a big load on the catalytic converter. Twice a year wouldn't hurt anything, but you wouldn't want to do it every month or two.
