ok i live in socal so we dont see snow here but once in a while during winter season we drive up to big bear which is like an hour from l.a. i would have gotten a 4wd but my dealer had a verry limited amount of tb. so i just got what i could afford.now the dealer explain to me that the tb shouldnt be put in chain when driving in snow. so now im wondering what will i be doing if i ever to decide to drive up in the mountains and theres a chain requirement for snow...by the way this is my first suv/truck.

I have a 4X4, and I was wondering the same thing. I went to Les Schwab, and they said a pair of chains should only be put on the rear, and I got a pair of really easy to put on chains for about $75. Truthfully, I have never had to use them, but I feel safer carrying them around in the winter. Sorry for not answering your question directly, but as I said before, I havent had to chain up b/c I have 4WD.

you might be better off carrying a couple bags of cat litter to help with traction should you get stuck. I don't know if that's the best solution or not though. :m2:

Here is an option, although not exactly cheap. But it is legal and is ok for vehiclies with low clearances. They are based near San Fran.

The other option is to put additional weight in the back during the winter. I heard lead weights from hunting places are the smallest and best things. Regular lifting weights would work also. The chain police won't' let you buy though.

Chains scare me. I would just do like Charlie suggested and buy some weight for the rear, and even air your tires down a little if needed. :m2:

So you need the "Trailblazer Florida Edition" -- where instead of running boards, they install pontoons!
