Hey, my sister has an 04' TB with 32,000 miles on it and she's had an engine squeak for quite some time now. Actually more like a "squeal". But everytime we try to get it checked out the stuborn thing won't squeak for em'! Has this happend to anyone else? And ,by the way, the warranty is about to run out so could someone give me some ideas for the machanic so we can figure this thing out? Thanx a lot!

is it when you start the car? Or making sharp turns? A/C on or off? I would say a belt is loose. But i'm no mechanic.

I had my belt replaced at 35K, it usually made noise after rain/snow. The cost was about $100.00

Hope she gets the issue corrected soon. Also, she should consider an extended warranty from GM (others look for ways to avoid payment). This must be done before origional factory warranty mileage runs out. :m2:

I am with the others here, belt fist, possible a bad pulley i.e. (water pump) I hope it is just the belt.

Listen to Envoy Fan though, get that waranty extended!! Its more than worth the monry that you will spend. I have 12,000 left on my GM waranty and up to 100.000 miles on a "Platinum" waranty from my bank. Not sure how good that is though..... :undecided

Hey guys, my warranty recently expired. My mileage is around 36,800. Any ideas or suggestions on how i could get an extended warranty. How much would it cost and is it really necessary? :undecided

maybe contact a dealer? I don't know anything about it really. I still have 2 years left on mine.

Yeah I would see if you can still extend it since the miles are so close to the deadline.
Oh, and to the guy with the squeak, check the serpentine belt tensioner pulley. They tend to go bad over time. ;)

Yeah, so I found that it only does it shortly after you start the car especially when you rev the engine. By the way, the a/c was on when it squeaked, it's also done it with the a/c off as well. But there is good news it doesn't do it when you turn the wheel. I'll also recommend to my sister to get the extended warranty too. Thanx for your posts everyone.

Based on that, I'd say still check the serpentine belt tensioner, and also the bearing/pulley that hooks up to the fan clutch. Could be either one of those. :m2:

I had a similar noise at about 35k miles and took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything. I did happen to find something in a TB forum that had a similar situation.. The noise I had was something like a squeak everytime i went over a bump or in a dip. Apply some white lithium grease on the front hood latch mechanism. Even on those bumpers that the hood sits on. Try this, it might help if it is the same noise I encountered. THe dealers couldn't even figure it out. These forum do work....
Hope it helps

I'm pretty sure there is a thread here somewhere about that hood thing... :undecided
