I tried a search on this, but no luck. If my TB has sat for more than an hour or so, it rev to like 1500 RPM during startup like it has to warm up, and then idles down to 1000 RPM, then operating range. Is this normal? I figure I will ask now before mine blows up :D

I think is normal because mine does it too  and it also sounds like if it was a diesel engine

Same here, it does it everyday on the way to work, so I'm glad to know that its not just me.

Totally normal condition -- it's the fan clutch. Once the truck starts to warm up the clutch won't stay engaged as much, nor will it be as noticeable. Every vehicle I've ever been in with a clutch-type fan does it. :m2:

Yeah, I guess it is just more noticable with this vehicle Thanks for the responses. I jst though it to be strange why it never came up before.

That's because the '02's and some early '03's have what is called piston slap at start up. Synthetic oil helps but does not eliminate the noise. :m2:

Well, theres another reason to start using synthetic. 500 miles to go and then I get an oil change done...
