View Full Version : When did you realize you wanted a TB/EV?

I was at GM's Auto Show in Motion, I had never really paid much attention to the Trailblazer before. Just for *****z and giggles, I decided to test drive a TB, and I fell in love with it instantly. Just as a personal preference, I liked the SWB over the EXT, but after that show, I had to have one!!
Has anyone here been to the GM AUTO SHOW IN MOTION?
I've been to three of them, its pretty awsome if you like driving cars that you know you'll never be able to afford, or maybe your wife just won't let you have...... I hope they have the TB SS in November when they come to Epcot at Disney!! Maybe I can gather up my Florida friends for the next show...

i saw the envoy XUV thing i was like oh that would be different, then i went to look at them and hated it. So i started looking at envoys instead...the yukon and tahoe was too pricey for me. I liked the look of the trailblazer better, so i got one.

No, but I would like to go. I understand they give you coupons for rebates on new cars to those that attend. Is that true?

Well, I said I HOPE they have the TB SS at Epcot this year (November) when the Auto Show in Motion comes back to Orlando for the second time. We are lucky, they start the tour and finish the tour here at Epcot every year. And if the TB SS is there, yes you can drive it. Earlier this year, and last year I got to play in a few SS models.

Yes, they send you stuff all year long, and then when its time for the next show, they send you invatations before the public even knows about it!!
Here, it looks like they are all over the place for the summer, just click the drop down menu and select the place nearest to you.

Well, they have been all over the place this year, you may have missed it, they were here in March, and from what I understand, they only have like two weeks relocation and setup time between each show... (most of the time it looks like anyway)

I knew I wanted an Envoy as soon as they came out. It was about that time that we were shopping for the truck to replace the van I'd totalled. We ended up looking at used S10 Blazers, because we couldn't afford a new vehicle at the time. In driving around various lots, I spotted the first of the 02 envoys recieved in stock by the local Chevy/GMC dealer. At the time I didn't know what it was, so I got out and looked -- it was definitely love at first sight.
Instantly I knew I would someday have one by some means, and here I am four years later with my 02 Envoy; the first vehicle I truly paid (well ok, more like am paying off) for with my own money. I contributed to my Blazer, but not for much; I never liked that fact since my mom would always hold the "You know that's MY truck" line over my head whenever I wanted to mod it. Now she can't say that :D
And, as luck would have it, I'm probably going to keep this truck until at least when the re-design comes out in 08, and I'll judge from there what I want to do. Either a new 08 Envoy if I like 'em, or a used '06 or '07 TBSS. :m2:

I bought my last car, a '95 Chevy Blazer 4 door 2WD LT, when I was in college in '00 with 90K miles on it. I drove that thing for 5 years and got the odo up to 215K with only two expensive jobs done on it, had to get the fuel injectors replaced and a new torque converter and transmission rebuild. Other than that and other common things (brakes, alternator, struts, fuel pump) no major issues.
When it came time to put this thing to rest I was torn between a 2001 BMW 740iL or a TB. Two reasons for going with the TB: I felt pretty confident with GM's build quality (unless its a dud straight from the factory) and more importantly I bike a lot and my mountain bike would just plain look funny on the back of a big beamer. Hey what a perfect oportunity to show off my bike

I first wanted a TB when i got to drive a friend of mine's tb I loved how smooth it was, so i started comparing them to the explorer and other suv's and there wasnt anything close to the smooth ride and all the options, i just had to have one couldnt find a nice used one so i put the cheep personality in the closet and went to bill heard and picked one up, loved it ever since, i am now a loyal gm customer
Oh hey jman or jimmy either of you guys play golf????

I just happened to get one as a rental car about a year ago. I was impressed with the ride and the power. It didn't have many options as it was a base model rental, but it was very comfortable, roomy, and generally nice.
When I decided I was interested in getting an SUV shortly thereafter, the TB was on the front burner. I looked at several others, but ultimately the TB got the nod.

I think I was fairly frugal with my options also. Considering that I still have about a year of payments left on my BMW, I didn't want to bury myself too deep with the TB purchase. So, I opted for the LS with the 1SB package. When the salesman alerted me to the rebate on the "sun and sound" package, I went for that also. I think it only ran me like 800 bucks for a sunroof, 6 cd w/bose, and XM. I couldn't pass that up, but there were some things that I omitted in the interest of saving some dough. Namely, the LT model itself, 4WD, and leather seating. Fortunately, I'm almost certainly leaving NJ for warmer pastures in the near future, so the 2WD won't be a problem for me if it never snows. :D
But, as I mentioned upthread, the TB that I rented for the weekend a year ago didn't even have any of the options that I put in mine, and I still thought that it was well appointed. Most importantly, I felt very comfortable with the size, ride, and performance of the vehicle. Since I didn't take many turns during my rental period (or recent test drive) I don't know how I'll react to the body roll that many here report. I'm not really too concerned about that, however, because I have no problem looking to the aftermarket to correct any minor shortcomings that I'm not happy with. ;)

We bought our Trailblazer because my wife liked the style. We looked at the Envoy first but couldn't get a good deal from that dealer. I ended up paying the same for my TB, except it had a V-8 and 6000 less miles.

I knew I wanted a GMC Envoy right after my Caliper fell off my '95 Chevy Blazer.
Here's the story: I was driving back to Orlando from my parent's house in Fort Lauderdale. I was 45 munites into my drive when I felt like wheel was not moving as smooth as before. Of course I thought to myself this was not good, considering A) I had after market 20 inch rims and B) these are MY BRAKES! I pulled over to the side and looked at the caliper. Totally loose and hanging out with my rim. I was so fed up with my car at this point because for almost 5 years I had problems left and right with my Blazer but I was under a state of denial when it came down to thinking whether I should sell it or not. I reached a point with my car that I invested so much time and effort into I did not want to get rid of it because I finally had it the way I always wanted it. But now, I'm stuck on the FL turnpike with a POS car.
So I wait for the Tow truck and I am sitting in the Cab with him. He's talk up a storm and all I wanted to do is just be in my house in Orlando. Meanwhile, I started to stare out the window and get ideas of new cars to look into. I noticed like 30 sum Envoy driving by. They were all over the place so I started thinking if so many people have these cars well ...hey maybe I should join the band wagon. I got home and read reviews and decided that this is the car I need to get behind the wheel of.
Well little ones, the rest is history, now Cmdrrjc can be seen cruising around in his '04 Envoy with the biggest grin on my face. Next time you see him around go ahead and honk, I'm sure we'll wave back! :D
