I went to dealership, were I purchased my TBSS and asked if they were proactive on the service buletin about the paint chiping. I told them I would rather have it fixed now so they didnt have to repaint. They agreed and went and got the service manager, he said that they would order the 3M. I asked if instead of the 3M they could do the assist steps because they look better and my wife is 5 mo pregant so they would be functional. He showed me were it said use the assist steps on all except the SS. I complained and he said he would call his regional service guy, to see if he could get it approved. He called me about an hr later and said that he couldnt do it because of two things. He said he spoke to an engineer from chevy and that they wouldn't fit right and that I would bottom the truck out on "regular streets". I explained that my previous car was about 3 1/2"s off the ground and wont have a problem with the ground clearance. And a pic of the old car.

Sorry to hear that.

Unfortunately, I doubted the dealer would be able to get a set of running boards for the SS guys because GM might say something stupid like that. But, you could still get the assist boards anyway, just have to pay for them.

I got mine for $160 as new take-offs. They DO NOT hang down any lower than the frame of the truck BTW. If you look underneath across the bottom, they are even with the frame. Bottoming out because of the steps is bunk. They will add about 60 lbs extra weight however...
