Sounds costly, I would think there is a lot to switch over like harnesses and such.

Agreed -- the thought has crossed my mind more than once, but I think it would be the exact opposite of cost effective. You'd be better off trading yours in when the '06 models come out; supposedly the 5.3 will be available on all trim levels of all wheelbases. :m2:

I was considering the same thing, but as was stated by Charlie, it would be more cost effective to have a warranty, and with all the bonus bucks and rebates, a new one is not that expensive compared to the headache of the swap. But, withot knowing anyone that has, we may be off. I know that a long block 5.3 new is around $3500-$4500 without the computer and wiring. If you can find a deal, then I am sure it can be done.

Well yeah, that's for a new longblock. Buying a used one with the wiring harness and all the bolt-on accessories would be better if you were going to try it. And not knowing what might change, you may even be able to get away with the Vortec 6000 like the escalade/denali yukon have, or even a 5.7L LS1. There are tons of 'em with low used miles out there. :m2: Again though, I'm not sure what stuff in the PCM would have to be tweaked for it to work.

Very true, I wonder who the first one will be to swap? I do not have the $$$ or time to try one. It is my daily driver. I would love to though. A 5.7 would be sweet :D
