i just recently bought a bottle of Back to Black (meguiar's) for the black trim around windows , doors, bumbers, etc. and it works great. we all know how quickly that stuff can look tarnished and faded and this stuff works pretty well to restore that look. but does anyone know the long term effectiveness of this stuff? thanks

Give trim shine a try if you haven't used it. http://www.trimshine.com/

I've used back to black and it's ok but kinda goopy if you know what I mean. The nice thing about trim shine is that it's clear. If you don't want to spray it on, get some round white applicator pads and spray it on those and then wipe it on. I usually spray it on my boards and then wipe it even with a pad then use the pad on the other trim areas.

I bought some of this stuff and it smeared all over. User error, I'm sure partly, but jeez...it doesn't look so good.

Was I using too much? Any tips?

Are you talking about back to black? If so, yes because it's thick, it can be hard to apply even.

Try the trim shine, it's pretty hard to screw up.

I've used BtoB before as well. Worked pretty good, but goopy. If you say Trim Shine is better, I'm gonna give it a shot as well.

Well if you don't like it you're only out about $4. Do you have O'Reily's Auto where you are? That's where I usually buy mine. They carry most of the Stoner products.

I'm not sure. Did you check the website?

i used back to black but it only works for a few days and then it's back to being faded again. Does trimeshine retain longer that back to black does?

I hate to waste my money for something that only lasts a few days.

Trim shine will last pretty long. It all depends on conditions. Washing will take most of it off as with any dressing.

Now, depending on what you are trying to shine up, another option is a product called Plexus. It's a plastic cleaner. I use it on my Jimmy on black plastic parts that were shiny when new but have faded like the mirrors for example. It's not a dressing and does last longer. It also works good on black bugshields that have faded.

My dad uses it on his airplane windows where you have to be real careful to not scratch.

Gave my TB a bath last night at Trim Shined all the plastic trim and it looked GOOD! I use a new wax applicator also. I spray the boards really good and spray some on the applicator and then wipe down the boards to make the trim shine even. I also did the mirrors, plastic trim on back bumper and the plastic cowl trim. I then Moreshined the tires! It looked good but it's probably all dusty now because it was at the dealership all day. I pick it up tomorrow, I told them to put it inside tonight.
