ok looking at my tbss the 255 50 20 are very close to the top balljoint on the front spindle. I can barly fit my finger in there. Taller tires im thiking should rub. IM wondering if you guys also are very close to the upper balljoint with your tire sizes.

The front tiress on my TBSS are too close to the A-arm. I cannot even fit my middle finger between them to flip GM off!
You can always go with whatever wheel size you wish if you keep the overall tire heigth and width the same.
To get a good idea of how each wheel and tire size combo copares, take a look at the tire and wheel calculator I put on my website. Just enter in your stock size and play with picking the new size:
http://toolmandesign.com/tireapps/tirecalc.html
Make sure you switch to the end view to see the width.
Have a hectic.

I had the same prob when getting tires for my rims, I had to make sure the tire was not going to hit the A-arm:mad:...and I didn't want it too close also, just made me feel that I would have probs down the line, with the 265/35/22 I can get my hand in between the A-arm and tire

good calculator:thumbsup: ....I'm almost the same as stock...my stock were 245/65/17 and rims are 265/35/22....it tells me my speedometer reading is 0.8% too fast.....I could use this, If ever get pulled over for speeding:D (knock on wood)...."officer, you say I was going 70, but I was really going 69.5 mph, if you want to get technical" ...now after a hefty fine for being a smarta$$...I will only use that line once:p

i want to fit a 265 40 22 which is like 1/4 inch taller than a 255 50 20 which should fit in there. Just its a 8.5 wheel so i will need to run less backspacing to push it out more.

i dont want a 265 35 22 since it will not fill the wells up as much and the way it looks now is killer

exactly, adjust your offset or get spacers.

I have 265/50-20 on an 8.5 rim and don't have any problems at all. I haven't got my Bel Springs yet, but should have them soon, at which point I can let you know.

with 8.5 wheel and more backspacing to stick out it might rub the outer fenderlip

My tires are pretty close to my UCA (I can fit a finger between tire and UCA), but I've only noticed rubbing on the fender liner one day. I dunno what was different about that day though.

FWIW, my tires are 2.1" taller than stock and throws off my speedo about 7%. Good calculator.
