Instrument Panel pop up dimmer switch

Can someone check to see if the Instrument panel pop up dimmer switch is supposed to light up with the other buttons on the dash. I am going to the US and I want to make sure I can find the damn switch when I ge pulled over. My two front side windows are tinted 20% so I am trying make sure I know the location of the switch to light up the interior.

It doesn't on mine, and that sucks becuase I wind up flashing my freaken fog lights before I can find that dimmer to turn on the dome lights!! Grrr....

Nope, it's painted with the label, same as the directional stalk. :m2:

I can swear mine was light up and now its not. I was adjusting the dimmer on the instrument panel the past few nights and tonight I noticed it was not light up. Thanks for your replys...

You know..I think it should light up. I was adjusting the dimmer and I may have shorted it. I am going to bring it into the dealer at the end of July and tell them that the light is broken on it. I still have my initial warranty.

Off to Disney have a great summer.....

Great, now you all have me wanting to take my dash apart again just to see if my dimmer can light up..... Oh well, it'll give me something to do!! :D

EDIT: I just checked again, and it does look like it could light up!! Maybe it was a sh*tty design and the wire/bulb goes bad after a few uses... That would be one hell of a coincidence if all of ours that didn't light up was just because of a bad bulb or something!! :m2:

This dimmer switch should light up. TB is in the shop to have this and the warped bumper fixed.

I just went and check. My 05 TB dimmer switch doesn't light up. Is it really supposed to light up?

Let me put an end to this urban legend. I've taken that switch apart and I can verify that there is no lighting in that particular knob.

He's right, I saw it myself, the button itsself doesn't light up, but the little symbol above it does. I have an 03 and I don't even have that little symbol, but trust me, Shay's DOES LIGHT UP!!

Mine doesn't light up either but I swear it used to. Talk about pushing the wrong button. When I first got my XUV I kept washing my headlights instead of turning on my foglights! :duh:

Ahh, OK. My 05 TB doesn't have that little "swoosh" over the dimmer knob for some reason.

I'll try to take a picture tonight (not sure how well it'll work with my old digital camera) but my '05 Envoy does have the lit bar just above the knob. It looks like a curved bar that starts off skinny and gets thicker towards the right, like I've seen with volume control indicators, except it's curved to follow the contour of the knob. I'll check my wife's '05 TB tonight also.
