Here in Dayton Ohio over the weekend of April 22 The results of the union vote by the workers at the Moraine GMT 360 plant was released to the news media. The reduced pay and health plan package was approved by all but 760workers at the plant. about a 2 to 1 yes vote. Now the proposal must be reviewed by GM. This will not save the third shift at the plant that is due to end when production starts up again after the break at the end of June. The plan if approved by GM will give the plant a vehicle to build after the 2008 time frame. The current vehicle, GMT 360 would end then. The plan is reported to give the plant product to build through 2012. The tv news had a headline that said "Moraine to build next Trailblazer". Another news source said that they would be building a crossover SUV yet to be named and it would switch to unibody construction. This news is good for the workers and families at the GM Moraine plant. It is sad news that the GMT 360 is going away and even worse news if they leave the body on frame vehicle. Time will tell what type of SUV that they plan to build at the plant. My guess is a crossover SUV. I have not heard any reports where the new Buick and GMC crossover will be built, but My guess is that is what they will build at Moraine.

It's a shame the hourly workers have to take the hit for years of poor management, but this proves they are on the move to change for the better and atleast they have the choice! My company doest ask, they just boot you out the door when times are tough. ~7yrs was a good run for the TB's. Best to get on with something else if GM can't make money on them. I'd take a 'unibody' TB in a heartbeat as long as it has the same capabilities.

My TBSS was built in Moraine and that does suck about the pay cut. Im goin through the same thing with Delphi, but they just want to cut our wages 50-60%. That is complete BS, they give there CEO's a golden parachute and screw the workers. WE have been very fortunate to get a job at GM, and if it were up to me everyone would make $25 an hour. Why take a pay cut when people have died for what we have today. NAFTA and CAFTA killed the UAW with outsourcing. Its just a race to the bottom now:cry: Sorry for the rant:hissy: I just think NOBODY should be takin a pay cut. Expecially with gas rising like the summer thermometer.

rant off, sorry if I strayed off topic

Just think about it,
Greg

Years of bad management more like decades. IMO the trailblazer is one of the few things GM has done right in a long time. I am very very GM loyal but it has been irritating to watch chrysler and ford lead the way in styliing recently. Here's to hoping the uptrend started with the TBSS

I know what you are saying Greg. My company didn't cut our pay, they just whacked our medical benefits back. They just dumped all the HMO's and offer a 90% coverage as the best package. Just under $300/mo out of my pocket and I still have to pay 10% of medical costs (that's capped at $3K/yr). I'm fortunate my salary is decent. We are all going to be lucky to have jobs & chat about out TB's:duh:
