Came across a Lightening around town yesterday. Noticed its a guy that runs out at the local track with me, on stickys he's pulling off 13.72 at somewhere over a hundred mph. Anyhow cought up with him in town on the street came down to be an interesting time. Caught a total of 4 lights together and did a couple rolling races. He was on street goodyears not the stickys. Me still stock awaiting my friend to get my new CAI finished:suicide: . I only managed a best of a 14.0 at the track with lowered tire pressure. I guess the street is a different animal then the track though.

First light: Straight dig, got him off the line by the time we got to 80mph it was nearly bumper to bumper.

Second light: Staged to 2000rpm got a bigger jump off the line and by 80mph I had over a fender on him.

Rolling 30mph: Pretty "sweet spot" for both trucks. He walked about a fender out from me on the downshift but I held at that all the way through 80mph

Third and forth light: Straight dig for me, he staged both times. This didn't work out for him on either go at it. I got half a length third run and a fender on the forth, he didn't have tires for what he was attepting.

Rolling 40mph: He walked over half a length on the down shift but by 80mph I was only a fender back.

Either way alot of fun and I am still shocked that I didn't get picked up or anything. That much goofing around on the same street, I figured I was bound to get caught. lol. Knock on wood. I know if he had his track tires on it would be a different story all together entirely. His staging at the lights probably would benifit him greatly on sticky tires.

I think the best part was after the race we both happen to be goin to Home Depot and he gets out and says "maan that things a runner ain't she, I guess the chevy boys are really bringin it again" didn't say it back to but I was thinking when didn't chevy have what it takes? lol....anyhow just thought this story would put some smiles on your faces. later guys...

Great story.I ripped with a SRT10 QC and beat him out.I'm sure he'd get me in a 1/4, but on the street this truck is a animal.I'm running pretty much the same as you.I still had my spare and no K&N,never messed with the tire pressures either.I know there is a 13.9 or better in it stock.

Great story. Yep you were probably taking a big chance with 4 on the same street, but now that it's over, great job.

a stock lighting is no match for mine..I met a guy at the Dyno who has been runnin his lightning for years and when I told him what I avg (13.53 over 102)he said I would've destroyed him stock when it was new, he only ran high 13's and he knows how to drive, of course now he's pumping over 550Tq to the wheels:duh: ..but a stock lightning? Some of you guys runnin 14's, yeah you'll get beat by an inch, but I have also seen two at the track run 13.7's and 14.2's all night long, so who knows, but in the street the 2WD SS hooks like an AWD vehicle, barely a chirp, leaving at 1800rpm, and I'm gone...
