on sat night me my girl and my buddy and his were going to the drive-in movie theater in Wellfleet, MA. he has a stock evo( not for long) and my ss is stock as well. we were messing around a little bit on the way up going back and forth, then comes a 13 mile stretch of road where you can't pass and i was up front and as soon as we saw that sign that said no passing he had floored it we were going about 70 , so i floored it to he had passed me then stayed even(he had a jump on me) up to 125 and then we both backed off the brakes work very good from that speed very little fade if any at all. this was my first race with the truck, well the first time i floored it and it got there pretty quick(i am used to my 4.2 tb)

For a first race, you pick one of the fastest streetcars:rotfl: It would hand you your ass from a light though

Those cars are super quick, but pretty light also. I think I can almost fit one in my EXT. Maybe not the wing though. :rotfl:

ltz03,
Your buddy has great taste in cars (your SS rocks of course too :D ).

Dave,
I use my wing to hang dry my laundry in a pinch

ya his car would beat me off the line mostly because its a 5 speed and can drop the clutch at 4 or 5k which I am waiting for he had a 650hp awd eclipse before and that was just crazy quick the 4g63 is just about bullet proof this wont be the last time Im sure but its easier for him to make his faster. we go back and forth I'm all about all motor cars and he's a tuner guy and thats one of the only ricer's I give respect to

We have a drive in a couple miles away from my place. I really miss my GSX :( I test drove an EVO a year ago....took it up to like 95 the salesman looked like he was enjoying it! Hopefully an EVO will be my next new car...unless they decide to get rid of the 4g63 like they did to the eclipses.... stupid mitsubishi :hissy:

:rotfl: Witnessed a great street race the other day. New Corvette Z06 sitting at a stop light minding his own business...up rolls your generic punk in the one-of-billion, monotonous, boring "racer boy prepared" Mustang GTs. The Ford-driving moron starts revving his engine; antagonizing the Z06 owner. The Z06 owner proceeds to back-up approximately 6 car lengths and waits for the light. Light turns green...alot of tire spin, smoke, etc. Appoximately 4 car lengths past the intersection, the Z06 comes by the Mustang so fast I thought a door or quarter panel would get torn of the Mustang....talk about gettin' your ass handed to ya"...

MSRP price of a Z06......$79,995.00

Price of a "racer boy" Mustang GT......Who cares?

Havin' your way with another Ford boy.....priceless.

Hmmmm.....a LS7 powered Trailblazer SS?...probably a few already runnin' around...

Z06's aren't that much are they? I remember on Motorweek when they compared it to the Viper, it was a hell of a lot faster, and about 10-15k cheaper, which would put it somewhere around 65k, right? Either way too much for me, but if I hit the lotto.....add me to the list! :hail: Z06

hey steve I think that the 4g63 era will be ending soon from what i've heard now if an american company could build an engine that could put up with the abuse and hp that it makes(lol) and 70g for a z06 thats right and more but you can buy your evo and put a few mods into it and kill the z06

A few mods lol. A lot of mods and a lot of $. even then you'd be driving around a timebomb

Steve,
My apologies for the mis-information. The current base MSRP on a Z06 is $65,690.00.
Etal,
First off, the EVO's, WRX's etc. are formidable in their own classes, but uncomparable to a Z06. If you take any engine and "squeeze it" (supercharger/turbocharger) and/or stratify (innercooler) and/or "chemically alter" (NOS) its' state of being, I'm sure it would have "its' moment" next to a Z06. But speaking foolishly, your Schwinn bicycle with a JATO rocket attached to it in the quarter mile would "kill a Z06". Any vehicle, saturated with enough $$ will go fast...I've read of some people on the drag racing circuit generating 700 - 800 hp out of the GM Ecotec motor...short-lived I'm sure. My point here is "modding" out a motor in either an American or Jap coffee can, usually results in short-term life.
If you wanted to compare an EVO to a Z06, I would recommend this comparison. Place an stock EVO in a series of WRC races (it's hereditary background) and place a stock Z06 in a series of, say 24 Hours of Daytona, or Sebring, etc. type races (it's hereditary background). I wonder which vehicle, in it's stock form, would survive the longest...any questions?

Well, if you get an EVO, just remember any mods and Mitsu will void your warranty.

Yeah...and for that reason I probably won't ever actually get one...but damn do I want one! If I could really have my way and get any import I want, it'd be an FD RX-7. Such a beautiful work of art... But as far as modifying any other car to be as fast a Z06.....sure it can be done...but I'd rather have a 12 second Z06 than a 9 second any other car....

The current base MSRP on a Z06 is $65,690.00. There is price to be paid to be cool. And how cool is the Z06. Anyone else read about GM's project "little Blue devil?" A proposed eaton supercharged Z06. Possibly marketed as an SS vette.

I'd give them both up. At that point, the car does all the talking anyway. ;)

Oh, and my EXT Z71 could run a 9.92 like the Evo. (However, mine would be in the 1/8 mile.)

Have any of you guys here been lucky enough to see one, or hear one for that matter? I FINALLY saw an SS at the gas station yesterday...looked amazing. It was Black, and the LT model. Noticably less orange peel than what I would have expected from a GM (I always just thought mine was hard to notice due to it being white)

Off the line maybe, top end HERE I COME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO you have an SS? Have you raced an EVO with an SS? Umm Nope , I have, pulled on me from the line, in the end, I was pulling up on him. I have witnesses, as well as video. :x both of which are posted on here.

What u talking bout willis??

The SS is indeed a race truck, but is actually a practical DD as well, unlike any GC SRT-8. The GC's suspension rattles you all over the place and thats great it goes a little faster, with 1K in mods the SS hangs with them and they are starting to pull on the SRT-8s now.

Steve02SLT

Hes right about the EVO killing damn near anything off the line. With simple bolt on's its easy to get an evo to do 1.6 60ft times, they launch HARD, and with either a bigger turbo, or a nitrous system spraying into the intercooler...they're fast as hell. However, thats a car, and the SS is a truck...so you can't really compare them. And the GC SRT-8 sucks. Take a look at the one guys lowered SS, and then look at the srt8....which one would you want?

well i was not comparing them we were racing them he is a good friend and I am sure this wont be the last time we will race. but that in it own way is fast and for an suv the ss is fast with room to play on both i watched him go around a corner the other day he was flying he did not skid his right rear tire came off the ground like 2-3 inches the suspension is so tight on the evo's But i like the ride of the ss plus you can put more stereo stuff in the back hehehehe

and yes the ss over the srt 8 thats why i got it!!!!!!!
mine is getting lowered tommorow or thursday and the wheels are going on I can't wait

Wow, that guy in the Mustang must have just got done taking the needle out of his arm, lol :) But whats with all the hating?? One in a billion, monotonous, boring, moron ... I can think of a lot of TV's that fit that category :) Guy probably just wanted to have some fun and see what the super-car ZO6 has. Anyway don't hate so much, that Mustang would probably put a hurting on a lot of Chevy's in it's own class.

I don't want to see the end of the Trailblazer line...but one day it will come. I think GM should do what they did with the Grand National. The final year was called the GNX and was a limited production, higher output model. How cool would a limited production 7.0 TBSS be? Well, we can dream!

I think depending on driver and if the TBSS is AWD or RWD would be the verdict of who would take it out the hole. Mine is RWD and I ran a 13.5 with just removing the spare tire. My boy has an EVO 9 and I do agree that they are nasty and pull HARD out the hole, but I wouldn't count out the TBSS either. They do lose alot up top when stock though...BUUUUUTTTT...once you throw turbo-back exhaust, intake and a tune...YOWZA!!
