I just got a phone call from my brother in law, His getting 3 weeks off GM. 8 other family friends i know are already off. Gm makes most cars here, and how come their not selling enuf cars? I mean come onnn even ford is killing GM! Ford which i like to call "Found on road dead" hehe. I dont mind buying a american vehical so i dont know why ppl tend to think "Jap cars are more powerfull and reliable" Is that true? i really dont listen to those ppl. one of my friend said to me efew months ago "Manbir, if u ever buy a ameircan car i'll be soo pissed off" I had a huge debate with him that day, He didnt even knew what he was saying. He kept saying how his dad's nissan van ran 6 00 000kms and if it was a american van it would have died long back. then i showed him my dad's dodge charger, hehe!
anyways, what my question is. Do you really belive Jap cars are better then american cars? Lets just say CTS (-v) vs TSX. other ex would be nice so i could talk about them l8r on my life..hehe

Ever see the Japanese version of the trailblazer? They have so many options for that.

I have to disagree. It comes down to how you take care of your vehicles moreso than what those vehicles are. I'm a GM brand loyalist until they stop making vehicles I would be willing to drive. :m2:

I do not think they are better, some are nicer than others, but that is to be said from both sides. I have owned a few Toyota's over the years, and they were great. But I would not say better, my Toyota's had their share of problems
Import cars are not any more reliable than domestic cars. They are known to have there share of problems. I never owned an Asian car because they are not my style. I've owned a few German cars and the most unreliable and expensive car to maintain that I have owned was a 98 Audi A4. It was pretty lethargic around town also but it would cruise at 120mph all day (when I lived in Germany).
I can think of 5 American cars that have 400 hp and not one from Asia so American cars are definitely not short on power. All 5 can reach 60 in around 5 seconds with low 13s quarter mile. Most of the cars that can outperform them cost $30k + more.

This reminds me, i was driving my friend's BMW 330, 3 weeks old, and as soon as I start it the low tire pressure light turns on and stays on..
"Whats that?"
"Oh, thats always on..."
I start driving, 5 minutes later the oil light turns on
"Ugh oh, oil light! what did i do?" <looking in the rearview for the transmission>
"oh, it turns on every so often"
<thinking to myself> "what a piece of junk"

I've had a 330Ci for 3 years and 35K miles, and haven't had a single problem. Before that I leased a 323is, and had 30K trouble-free miles. I've heard horror stories about every brand. Many people on the BMW forum I belong to complain about problems, but it certainly isn't the norm.
I had an AWFUL GM car years ago, but I didn't write off the entire brand because of the one bad apple that I got. Well, OK, I did for a while, but I didn't let that experience get in the way of buying my TB and giving GM another shot.
According to the JD power long term dependability survey that recently came out, both GM and BMW scored above average marks for quality. I'm proud to own one of each. This by no means indicates that either make is flawless, but they are both good manufacturers (at the moment) and we shouldn't let a bad seed here or there poison the overall reputation of either. When talking about "junk" we should focus attention on brands like Mercedes, Volvo, VW, and Land Rover that are relatively pricey and deliver far worse than average quality on a large cumulative scale.

Now that I think about it, I have always had American cars.
