Well it looks like the competetion just got a little bit faster. Over on the SRT8 board some guy is announcing that he can now reflash the PCM.

He's charging $450.00...Seems like a good deal for them.I'm guessing that they will be in the 12's very soon.....Damn.....

Does that apply to all the HEMI's in Chrysler's lineup? Anyways, good for them. American muscle FTW!!!

Umm, okay. Great for them.

The SRT-8s will be a little faster again, but then again we can get forced induction here pretty quickly from what I have been hearing!:p

it was a matter of time before someone did. I don't care that there are faster we are all in it for the same reason, the rush of acceleraiton, but thats good for them and I'm sure that there will be more tuners breaking that pcm. the 6.1 is in a lot of cars and trucks. I drove an gc srt 8 before i got my ss and that is one hell of a truck and with that tuned it's gonna fly. as long as an american built suv beats all of the higher priced imports I am happy!!! now all we need is more go fast parts for the SS.

I'm actually pretty happy for them also...I've come to give them more respect after seeing a couple of the SRT8's run on the street...They really are very fast...
Never the less, I'm still a huge fan of the Bowtie.....

Yea, thats how Im approaching them too. Dont really care what beats the imports as long as its American built.

But then again, Im partial to the bowtie too...

I wish I can see an SRT-8 and TB SS go at it just for kicks. If/when I get an SS I will be lurking everywhere to try and find an SRT-8.

Ya they are pretty dam quick stock. Taking out torque management completly. Wow thats a smart idea! I do have respect for the SRT8's they are nice vechicles and run hard. Ran one last night from a roll. With the VM tune and CAI its within a car from a roll. I sure wouldnt want a one time flash for $450. ttdolson im sure yours will run with them now that u have the I6, CAI, and tune. The TC is what is killing our SS. The rpm drops between shifts are huge. Everytime I switched gears i lost a 1/4 truck on a GC srt8. Stainless works headers and catback exhaust are in the works. There is aprox. 50hp right there. Not to mention what a TC will do. Saving my :m2:

Someone on Trailvoy posted a link to "gmhightechperformance.com", which has a great article on the LS2 engine. 90 hp with just a cam change. Here's a blurb...

"Our numbers for just the Stage I Livernois cam uncovered impressive potential in the LS2. Peak numbers rang out at 494.4 hp at 6,400 rpm and 450 lb-ft of torque at 5,200 rpm. That's a quick, 90hp pop for just a cam change! Torque numbers were up at peak, with only a slight loss down low--369.8 lb-ft at 3,000 rpm, showing that the engine will still offer good grunt with the cam. More interesting is the useable area under the curve and how much more useable rpm the engine picks up. With this cam, you won't need to shift the car until well past 6,500 versus peak numbers of 5,300 rpm for the stocker. Not only will you gain big power, but with an additional 1,000 rpm to use in each gear, the car will feel stupid fast. As for the tune, Dan used the stock GM computer (no FAST, Accel, etc.) with proprietary GM software to keep the air/fuel ratio right at 12.5 to 12.7:1. The factory tune in our baseline numbers was 12.5:1, so you can see there isn't any "tuning magic" in the reported number set. However, as we alluded to earlier, Dan did tune the engine to correct for the stock computer pulling timing during the run, which would account for the aforementioned 10 to 15hp difference."

Article talks about stage II cam, ported heads, etc. too. Good reading. Can't remember who posted the link, but thanks. This looks encouraging when the 3/36 warranty is up.

Nice article! A cam that does that I would be all over if I can keep the DD aspect of an SS.

3/36 warrenty, who cares? OK, not completely true as there are some things that need to get fixed, but the majority of those wont void your warrenty, heck most of the GM techs near me would drool over an SS while I did the work!:dielaugh: :rotfl:

I think the cam or heads would void the powertrain warranty.

Probably, but then again how would they know unless something bad happened?

Naww, Im with you Dave. :) I would only do minimally invasive mods (CAI, tune, torque converter) and appearance mods for at least the first 4-6 months to make sure there arent any bugs in it.

GS Motorsports already has superchargers, headers, polished intakes and heads for the SRTs. Hennesy has torque converters, cams, headers and other parts available also.

Well then, different ball game now.

I like the GC SRT-8s, but it is impractical for me as it cant tow anywhere near what I need to tow (at least rated for 5K). A TB SS fits that better and also the budget plus it is a tight sleeper.:D

I'm with the other guy. Hennessey has a very, very bad reputation. I would not be using his name unless it was to scare someone.
