ive been keepin contact with nelson. And been buggin him bout the I6 tune, but he is a busy man and the lsx market keeps him really busy. So i asked shifted subjects to possible v8 swaps. Since the ext has the same dimension engine bay as the I6 it will physically fit in there. He was sayin as long as you got a ecm that had the option u wanted to keep, he could turn off the others. Heres his reply in a thread on a differcnet forum.

"What do you need on the PCM? I have a nice hotrod tune for $250, turns off everything you don't need, fixes gear/tire calibration, etc.
Or, there's always the performance tune."

There might be hope for us, withough having to spend 15k on a swap. I found a place online that will sell us the accesories, 150 for the pcm, 200 for wiring harness, 300 for all the accesories off of an ext. Ive been calculating parts. You would still need block, heads, fuel system, and the oil pan from the ext(because our special front axle). Those could be had for less than 1500 if you know where to look. Then you would also need a front suspension that could handle. Thats where airstruts would come in, which is about 800. Possibly a new rear axle from the ext, but doubt it would be needed. The 60e may need a little attention depending on how crazy u get with power. Engine installation labor is about a 1000 depending on where u go.

Let me know if i missed anything

Would we really even need to buy all the parts separately? If I could find a rear-ended EXT or XL truck with the drivetrain and electrical stuff under the hood still intact, I could just pull the entire assembly and do a direct bolt in on my SWB truck; only remaining hurdle would be the PCM/ECM flash.

I have decided that im not going to try to make the I-6 fast until there is something being made for it. Either that or save up and buy an SS :D

lol i would just wait until the 06's come out, i hear that the v8 is avail for all models then, or just go buy a ext with a v8 and save alot of trouble

would be badass if it was just a direct bolt in, with the correct parts of course. Someone just needs to try. Can anyone find a pic of an empty engine bay that had the I6 and then 1 from a v8 ext.
