The pullies are different, ASP does make pullies
25% underdrive $214.99
pulley w/overdrive alternator pulley $229.99
I do not have them on the shelf but I could get them in 3-4 days.
(I will be adding them to our website soon)

How much hp/torque is gained with underdrive pulleys?

We see 5-10 RWHP with the pullies. This is a new part # for us, I automatically marked it down 10% off retail and all our orders over $100 receive free ground shipping. If we get more demand I can see what I can do on the price.
The only thing right now is the belt sizes, with some math calculations I can guess but until we try one (probably in the next 3 weeks) I will not be able to post exact belt #'s.

I always do a pulley change. on my silverado I deff noticed a difference. on a customers 6.0 truck he got 12 hp at the wheels. as for belt size the instructions sy what belt to use

The reason why I was not 100% sure is because even tho the pullies are the same between the TBSS and the other Truck's the belt lengths were not according to the GM parts listing.

Yes - the silverado belts are the same for the 6.0 and the 5.3

Will you match the price on streetbeat.com? $196 shipped for just the crank pulley?

forgive me for sounding novice here, but what are the neg/pos to using just the crank pulley? more HP vs. lower alt output at idle? is that what the overdrive pulley is for the Alt?

I think the only con there is if you have a big stereo. You would ne a separate battery.I think. But it does free up HP.

Correct. No OD pulley on the Alt **could** cause charging issues when at idle and the system is loaded (ie, lights on, AC on, or non-stock stereo, etc).

I had problems with an underdrive pulley set I put on a 5.0L Mustang GT I used to own. Certainly seemed to run a bit better, but the negatives were, at night headlights would dim at idle because the alternator wasn't spinning fast enough, on really hot days it would tend to overheat, gage would go way higher than ever before, because the water pump and fan were turning slower, and the A/C couldn't keep up when idling because the compressor was turning slower, plus less air drawn through the A/C condenser. After a couple of months and even trying an electric fan setup, I gave up and put it back stock because I needed to be able to drive the car daily in normal traffic, was not a weekend pleasure driver. GOOD LUCK!!

On the LS1 and LS2 based vehicles that we work on we have not had any problems associated with under drive pullies. Infact I have one on my GTO. It is a very common upgrade with no down falls to driveability. If you do run a large setero or have charging problems the overdrive alternator pulley would fix that up right away.

Does the serpentine belt ever pop off with the undersized pully?

If installed properly with the correct size belt that should not be an issue.

I think I will wait for Norcal to install his because I noticed at an idle with the system, lights and AC cranking, the volt needle dips on bass notes and I aint running Sh*t for an amp...it's only a Punch 100DSM and a 10" SAS tube...so I will wait for a guinea pig first..(sorry Norcal, you already proved to me that you are willing to do it all, while I just sit back) I do not want to jump into modding this truck, right the first time, I am older now and more patient (at least I think so:o )

yah they recommended the pulley change for alternator. i got the 23 percent one ill try that out since im running 2 amps and then if thats not enough ill get the other crank pulley.
but for the difference in speed its worth it. I just put the same pulley on my 04 silverado (no system) and the truck deff. pulls harder no doubt about that. easier revving. I bought it in dec of 03 and i just bought it to tow my boat. The silverado just turned 6k miles on it and out of those 6k miles 3000 miles was from trips from san francisco to las vegas to the sema show 2 years in a row (2400 round trip) 2 times to disney land (2000) and then numerous times to the lake which is about 100 miles round trip. Other than that just sits in the garage. Ill be towing my traiblazer SS with the silverado though. The pulleys are well worth the money.

Speed-
I'm local and was wondering if your going to carry the belts as well or sell them together?
Speed Inc
06-19-2006, 02:11 PM
We do not sell belts, we would supply them for installs tho. If by chance you wanted it installed we could do so to ensure the proper belt size was used.
