Not sure if anyone is looking to get a satellite radio but circuit city and amazon are having sales on theirs. It's 45 bucks after rebates. Sirius (http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=117595&WT.mc_n=57&WT.mc_t=U&cm_ven=AFFILIATE%20MARKETING&cm_cat=BEFREE&cm_pla=DATAFEED-%3EPRODUCTS&cm_ite=1%20PRODUCT)

XM > Sirius by far on content, not to mention that I've never been a fan of Sirius' non-OEM tuners and equipment. :m2:

i don't really know the difference between them, as i've never used either, and don't plan on using either. I just tossed it up there. Maybe someone will get use of my links.

I would prefer Sirius over XM just for the fact it has the NFL and XM has MLB.

While I was getting my new head unit put in(my old one was stolen), I happened to glance over and see the XM and Sirrius equiptment. Then I noticed that Sirrius only needs one module, and XM two. Just like mentioned abouve I also noticed the $50 rebate... shwing! For $50 I put it in myself, which was very easy, and it even hooked up to my new radio because now they are sat ready not just XM ready. Though at work I was given **** about not buying XM because GM owns XM. I didn't think they did own it, so I went looking, yah we have some interest in the company but do not own it. So I don't feel as bad about my purchase. It was funny when I told my uncle that it only cost me $50 for mine, when he just paid the big bucks to have it installed in his truck. :raspberry :raspberry

What's this about XM needing 2 modules?

Good question... I don't get that.

My XM Roady was one tiny module, display and all built into a tiny device. I believe the XM Roady 2 is even smaller. And then there is the MyFi which is even smaller and portable, internal battery and all.

Yup. And it's not like my SkyFi2 is even taking up THAT much space:

Unless I am a complete moron, In order to connect XM to my pioneer head unit there are two modules that need to be used.

The GEX-P920XM (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_265994847_266617510,00.html) is just one box... So is the GEX-P10XMT (http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/product/detail/0,,2076_2007714_192089303,00.html) (the one i have):m2:

I've had both along with some pretty nice systems and in my opinion, XM had the advantage in reception and price (back then), but Sirius has the advantage in sound quality and selection (IMO).

I was pretty bummed when I had to go with Sirius in my new system, but now that I've had it awhile, I wouldn't go back to XM. :m2:

This kinda seems like a Coke vs. Pepsi thing. I guess everyone is going to have their preference. I'm an XM guy personally. I find that their programming selection is far superior, and if you have to "add it on" to an existing head unit the XM gear is smaller and nicer looking. The only real big Sirius advantage is the NFL, but I have Sunday Ticket and a 55" HDTV, so no radio is going to touch that for football. Another cool thing about XM is that MyFi that I've been thinking about getting. Regardless, my TB is XM ready so there really was no decision there, but when I had to make the choice a couple of years ago I went with XM for the same reasons I'm happy to be with them today.

I'm biased because I am an O&A fan. But even forgetting that, I have a feeling that Sirius isn't going to make it after they have to start paying Howard Stern his 900 trillion dollars and he doesn't bring nearly enough subscribers to cover a fraction of his cost.

Sirius has been behind XM since the start, and they are still there (both in stock and technology). Even with all of the car makers signed with Sirius, they still aren't gaining.

Since this has become a XM vs Sirius thread, I like my XM over he Sirius I had. I love MLB, and the College stations.

I honestly believe that XM and Sirius will merge at some point; it just makes sense. :m2:
