I am in the process of choosing a cold air intake for my 2004 Envoy XL, I6. I have found that some such as the Airaid #200-126-1 doesn’t require removing the resonator. The K&N (model number) 77-3036KP and 57-3036 requires removing the resonator. What, if any, are the results of removing the resonator? Does anyone suggest one of these in particular for a 2004 Envoy? I seem to recall reading that the K&N ones do not have a certain hole to attach a compressor or vacuum line that might be on my engine. Sorry I don't too much about my particular years engine details. As far as my preference for sound I wouldn't mind additional sound under the hood as long as it doesn't make the engine sound like there is something wrong with it.

i've got the airaid in mine and you can't notice any sound difference(at least i can't). I really like it.

I may have used the wrong terminology in my question. I referred to the resonator but what I meant was the silencer (has Vortec 4200 on it). The resonator is part of the exhaust system I believe.

Well the resonator can be that also, it just cancels noise out. I love the Airaid because it keeps a factory look by retaining the silencer.

I vote for the K&N. Hey maybe we could have a poll? Airaid, K&N, Volant, Others.....maybe not good for sponsors (future), might scare them away.... :duh: :x

Just wanted to let anyone who may be looking for a Volant CAI know that I have just ordered mine, and it was $239. Thats it, no shipping, no tax. Thats the best price I have been able to find, and I know how to search!! ;)

I'm not sure how long this deal will last, but here is the link to where I purchased mine:

Why do you say that? Is Volant better?

Nope, just like the look better. I like the close to stock look. They all perform almost the same +- 1 or 2

I like the fact that its got an airbox, and reports that it is quieter. Why waste my money dynamatting my car if I have to listen to my engine drone.. :m2:
