I recently quit my job at GM and took a job in Dearborn. I'm really not liking my new commute. When I was driving to GM, I was able to let the SS roar on I-75 and had a great time driving. It took 10 mins to go 12 miles. Now, going the other way, it's all construction, and bumper to bumper. It really is a waste for an SS. It takes me 50 mins to go 30 miles.

I have a low mileage lease, and will be going way over the miles. I may be looking to transfer this lease. I have a GMS lease <$360, so I should be able to find a taker. It's too bad, because I really like the SS - I just don't get the chance to enjoy it anymore. Heck, I was even thinking of buying out the lease.

Why not buy a beater for bad weather days?

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting a beater. Not sure what to look for though. I'd like to get a pickup, but I need gas mileage.

Dearborn...as in Ford?

No, not Ford. I already worked there.

I now work for a Consulting Firm in Dearborn that does work with all of the Big 3. More money, more hours, more travel.

Working for GM in 2006 was not fun for me. I saw many of my coworkers get laid off, and it was just getting worse.

It was a lot more fun when I hired in 7 years ago. Even so, it was hard to quit the GENERAL.
