What kind of soap though do I use? Can this aluminum tarnish if you use other stuff like that Mr. Clean for your car or hot rims...even if it says "say for all wheels" ?

The SS rims have some sort of clear coat on it. That said, whatever you use should probably be clear coat safe. I would stick with good old fashioned soap and water. Any brand of automotive car wash soap should work. Since they are coated, you can probably use regular wax on them too.

Thanks guys for the input...but I hope I didnt ruin my rim...it seems like in certain tiny areas the rim is a different color...almost like its tarnishing? but I only washed my TBSS twice since I have gotten it. I think I used Mr. Clean on it the first time then that hot rims stuff...i hope its just my imagination...does that mr. clean car wash stuff and that hot rims bad for the TBSS rims?

ok...fyi....I don't have an SS. I have however pretty much read every post on this site.:D The Mr. Clean stuff should be fine, I don't know about the hot rims stuff. I do remember reading some other SS owners commenting on the same thing. The SS wheels seem to show wear and tear a little fast. If you really think its discoloring, take it to the dealer and complain!!! I know I would!

I used the Mothers PowerBall and the PowerBall polish/wax after I cleaned them with soap, water, and a rag. They turned out very good. And with the polish/wax it was easy cleanup the next few times.

I have the Mr. Clean kit and ahave used it on the SS with no problems. I also used it on my camaro with C6 wheels which are chrome and have had no problems.

Having had similar rims from GM (polished aluminum with clear coat) I've been watching mine carefully - they aren't quite like new, but close, and no substantial issues with cleaning them with car wash soap, water, and a sponge (or a soft, long bristle brush - a body brush) and I wax them with the same wax I use on the paint (Zymol), only I wax it a bit more often than the body (wheels take a lot of abuse), and use Mequiar's Quick Detailer in between waxings - keeping wax on them makes them much easier to clean, obviously.
I'd be careful with more powerful polishes...keep in mind it's essentially paint covering the aluminum - and once it's gone, you're keeping raw polished aluminum nice and shiny without the aid of the clear coat - not easy.
It'll never clean up and shine like chrome, but they're still pretty shiny...I'm not much for bling, so as long as they're clean and waxed, I like 'em.

I have a very soft kitchen sponge and I use Castrol No-touch wheel cleaner. I just let the cleaner do its thing, rinse the wheel and sponge off the heavier dirt with clean water. To dry, I have an old chamois that works great( Just keep it seperate from the good towels and Chamois)
Have fun cleanin'

If a wheel is clearcoated, which most factory rims are, polishing them won't make a difference unless you strip the clearcoating. IF you have aftermarket non clearcoated rims then chrome polish will keep them nice.

This isn't used for polishing but it's a wax which makes cleaning dirt and dust off very easily.

I wash the car and wheels with Meguires NXT and polished (only once so far) the wheels with Mothers billet polish. I'm sure there is better polish to use, but it's what I had on hand and use on my Bogarts.
