Ok, as some of you may know I am in the need of a new muffler. Here is where you guys come in...
- I would like something chrome or polished.
- A muffler that has an agressive tone but is not too loud. (I've had my loud exhaust system days with my Camaro) ;)
I'm ok with spending a couple extra bucks for a nice muffler, any suggestions? My stock muffler is in bad shape :duh:
Thx in advanced

Are you looking to replace your resonator also? I just replaced my resonator for looks, I kept the factory muffler. For a deeper tone and if you plan to replace both resonator and muffler, I would look at doing a cutom setup with either a 50 series Dalta flow Flowmaster, Ravin, or use a Magnaflow muffler and then either a tip, or a setup like I have in my gallery. If you want a bolt on kit, Borla is nice. Those 3 mufflers out of the ones I have heard from a custom setup, produce the deepest tones :m2: Keep in mind, this will not sound like a V8.

I understand it wont sound like a v8, in fact I dont want a loud muffler at all...just something more aggressive than stock.
Whats the resonator?

That is the can connected to the tailpipe, coming out the rear. The muffler itself is under the SUV.

Ok, so anyone have suggestions on a muffler? Looking for something aggressive but not too loud.
Dynomax maybe?

i thought id be smart and get themost noise outta my ride, so i took both the small muffler right at the exit pipr to the engine and also the large middle one....the sound was nasty, big time rice, so i just bought an aftermarket muffler called raptor by flowtech.....this is only for now until i buy my exhaust system from borla......
my opinion for a very nice noise would be to buy one from magnaflow, they do this small box muffler thats around 30cm x 30cm, if u want a deep tone go for this, but if you just a bit more then stock tone go for a flowmaster muffler or something which isnt shaped as a box, because the squarer it is the more vibration meaning more noise, the oval boxes kill the bassy tone.....but id say its pretty much up to you, no matter what muffler you buy they wont do too much of a difference on the TB....

Which muffler are you talking about? I thought there was the cat, then the muffler, then the resonater in the back?

You are correct; there are three pieces. the most common one people are replacing is the resonator. :m2:

Yeah, that's what I thought. I was just rying to figure out what he meant by "small muffler right at the exit pipr to the engine". I have a felling he means the cat.

Yeah. As we learned in a previous thread, he's from the middle-east so he probably doesn't have to worry about emissions laws like we do.

Let's play a game....Good idea? Bad idea? What do you guys think about changing the resonator, and also changing the cat but leaving the stock muffler? Does anyone have a Part number for a Magnaflow cat? I can't exactly just pick one off of eBay right? Do I need to know anything else after I get a new resonator?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ please dont do that. If someone has input they'll post it. A post with all question marks doesn't accomplish anything besides make you look impatient.

You could be "tampering" with emissions if you remove the cat. Depending on where you live, they may never know.

Of course, there's also the fact that nobody really knows how that truck is going to run if the emissions system has been altered. With all the computer control elements in that system (well, actually in all systems) it might not like it too much. :m2:

Surething jimmy jam. I am not trying to get rid of the cat just replaceing it with an aftermarket one. Well it still be considered tampering with? Should I just change the resonator and going on with another project?
