Had the Trans pan gasket replaced last month on my TB with only 5000 miles, now it looks it might be leaking again. The leak is dead center under the car about 1 1/2 feet in front of the trans supportWhat else could be leaking there??

Maybe there is a small hole in the output shaft seal or maybe the dipstick has a hole in it allowing a little fluid to spill out???
Ohh, 2WD or AWD??? If AWD check the differential.

i had a leak in that place as well, im not sure exactly what it was, but i think was a sliced open rubber gasket on the drive shaft.. they had to take out the drive shaft to replace the gasket $0.02

Is it leaking towards the input or output side of the trans? Could be just that the dealer overfilled the trans slightly when they swapped out the pan gasket. ATF will weep out the breather if it's too overfull. Check the ATF level on a warm idling in park truck. Make sure you are on a level surface.

Joe,
If a 4WD, you may want to take a look @ the front differential pinion seal or the front differential case halves....

Definitely check the bolts on the tranny pan. Those seem to like to work loose, and if they used a cork gasket, they can shrink once in a while. But more likely than not, the bolts are a tad loose.

All the front bolts have oil on them and they are loose.how tight to make the 13mm bolts

Tightening spec for the transmission oil pan bolts are 11.8 lb.ft. or 16 N.m

It takes nothing to pull the threads out of the case after overtightening the pan bolts. Just a little snug will do ya.

If the trans has too much fluid would it leak front the front of the pan ?Dealer says he can not put dye into trans to test for leaks? Also where would I find a TSB if the front pump seal has problems? THANKS

If the trans is too full of ATF, ATF will puke out the top vent, trickle down the sides, collect on the pan and pretty much everything under the truck.

joe70ss,
These two numbers you posted are prelimenary service bulletins. I did not find anything under "3309", but I did find a prelimenary bulletin #PIP335d which relates to transmission fluid leakage.
It basically suggests to add fluid dye and run until a leak develops. Trace leak to root cause & repair. On new vehicles, it states that small oil residues and a small leak which occurs and does not return can be the result of assembly oil useage and should not be confused with an actual leak.
It further states that field investigations have found small cuts in the torque converter seal(s) which are a result of metal burrs on the torque converter hub and/or drive slot. These burrs can be felt with the finger and should be removed with a file. Torque converter replacement is not necessary.

Well I am leaking trans fluid again, looks like it is coming from by the bell housing. How long does it take to fix a front pump seal.I was first told 7 hours just to take the trans down, but the car was fixed in 5or 6 hours.

AWDs are tougher than RWDs...An extremely efficient tech (without hacking) can perform this repair in 4 - 5 hours.

Is this an SS, or a regular TB? Your name implies SS, but the thread is in the non SS section.

It is the normal trailblazer,I own a 1970 Chevelle SS,396,4 speed,A/C and built sheets Also a 1970 chevelle SS clone
I was first told it would take 7 hours to take the Trans down, but now the car was left at 10 am and finished at 5 pm,just do not understand.
I now have a hearing with GM and The BBB on Aug 18

Good deal. This problem could be the simplest thing in the world, but you shouldn't have had to go through all this. A buy-back would be a good thing at this point IMHO.
G/luck

*Give* you? You didn't have to pay a dime to go from a 2005 LS to a 2007 LT? You've been through a lot of hassle, but no money needed for such a substantial upgrade is very rare to say the least.
