Just thought I would post some info regarding the new standard for GM transmission fluid Dexron VI. Apparently this is what is called for on all 2006 & newer GM vehicles. Problem is, nobody carries it yet, haven't checked out stealership though. Below are the responses I got back from Royal Purple and Mobil 1.
Royal Purple:
We are still weighing our options whether to come out with the warranty approved exact duplicate of the GM Dexron VI offered by the additive supplier using the required base stock plus the licensing fees for a 'me too' performance product. The GM Dexron VI is only required in the newer 6 speed autos at this point so the market is currently captured by the OEM who has the contract factory fill.
It's getting harder with the multitude of atf's needed to cover the market to make a justifiable case that you'll cover enough of the market and get an ROI due to very competitive shelf space.
The RP MaxATF would work fine but would not be recognized by GM for warranty purposes. Although with an aftermarket stall converter, you may have taken care of that technicality
Mobil 1:
Mobil is looking at the end of the year possibly when their is enough demand for the product.
I think I am still going with the Royal Purple since my transmission warranty is likely gone anyway with the new Yank 3600 converter getting installed.
