Anyone with a 4wd having problems with their TV making a knocking or clunking sound when shifting from park to reverse or when you are coming to a stop? If so you should have the front propeller shaft checked for excessive play. I just checked mine today and it seems that it has a lot of movement and may be what is causing my truck to vibrate and make the knocking and clunking sound. This is actually caused by the propeller shaft overboring the side gear in the transfer case. I know some of you have already gone to the dealer about this but I also checked on Mitchell and it states that the dealers are discouraged from replacing parts for complaints such as this. I was also told that some noise was normal but now, 1200 miles after my extended warranty runs out, the knocking started getting louder and more often. The only fix for this is to replace the transfer case or if your lucky to just replace the side gear. I am taking the TB to a local shop I have gone to before to find out how bad it really is. If it does in fact need a transfer case my next stop is to the "stealer" to try and make them replace it under warranty since it just ran out. If that doesn't happen... bye, bye TB:cry: I have only had the truck for a year and I can't see spending the money to have the transfer case replaced out of pocket. My suggestion for anyone still under warranty having problems like this to head to the dealership and MAKE them look into this problem before you get stuck in my situation.

Good Luck To You All:worried:

What kind of movement on the front prop shaft, axial or radial? Radial wobble is probably just a bad U-joint. That would cause a clunk as well. Slight in/out movement is normal and needed to absorb driveline shock.
