Local dealership just got a Black SRT8 in. Price is 45,900 and with the market adjustment of $5000 they are asking $50900. The interior doesn't look near as nice as the TBSS as far as I'm concerned. Plus, I think the front end is god aweful on the SRT8. The tail pipes on the rear were out of alignment badly. I'm sure it's a very fast truck and the Brembo's look nice but there is no way I would pay that kind of extra money. I paid $32K for my fully loaded Silver SS. I can't imagine anyone would pay $50K for one of those. The SS's rims are nicer looking as well. Granted, I wish they were 285's like on the SRT8 but no big deal. I figure you could add brembo's, Vector Tune and still save a ton of money and have a better looking truck. Plus, there is no tow hitch on the back of the SRT8??? WTF?? Need to tow my jet ski's around somehow! lol

Agreed on all aspects.

Someone has to pay for Benz engineering - might as well be Dodge owners, the dealerships love their deep pockets. SRT class owners love to hang out at the dealership getting their junk worked on.

Just my opinion, I've had Dodge vehicles.... meh think th4r junk! Never again!!!

Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you but the SRT8 Grand Cherokee is a Jeep by DCX. It is NOT a DODGE Grand Cherokee. :p

I've had an Envoy since Dec 2001 (SLT). I have a TBSS 2WD coming in about a week (Silver). I am fortunate enough to be able to get my hands on SRT8 and I do it at MSRP with NO MARKET ADJUSTMENT!

That being said, to say that the 2005 Grand Cherokee interior is worse than the trailblazers 1990 ish interior tells me two things. Either you haven't spent time in a Grand Cherokee limited or SRT8 or when you did you were puffing away on something. ;)

The trailblazer interior is simply AWFUL and if the SS wasn't such a damn bargain for me to get ($24,500 new 2WD), I would NEVER consider one because of the interior. For what I paid for the SS, I could rip out the interior and put in the grand cherokees and still be 10's of thousands ahead!

BTW, what was the last DCX product you had that you hated so much? k-car?:p

I think the SRT8's interior is terrible. Just because it has some fake silver stuff on it doesn't mean it's great. The quality of the interior pieces are terrible. I'm surprised at how nice the TBSS interior is. This is coming from someone that just sold a 05 Lincoln Aviator for it. That Aviator has to have one of the best interiors of all cars.

:nono: Again and bottom line is price, you can't beat the SS!!!!! If you have the xtra dough than go blow it on a 50k vehicle. Hell in that case i would have bought a Hummer, lol.

Oh wait 1BADSS bought his SS for 50k, lmao.

And now I find out apparently the Jeep SRT8 is cheaper than our SS's in Canada. That 50K was before taxes.add another 15%. Even the Corvette here starts at $80000.00. A new Z06 $115000.00 big ones.

Opinions vary. I traded a Dakota QC for my TB SS and couldn't be happier. The horrendous 4 years I had with that DCX product absolutely ruled out the SRT8.

The last K-Car I drove was a primer covered undercover car here in Palm Beach County. All the other guys would drive a brand new Camaro or Jeep - they stuck out like sore thumbs.

Two things came to mind -

1) K-Cars weren't that awful (compared to our standard Dodge Diplomat patrol cars of the time)

2) People will do some terribly criminal things, confident that the person driving a K-Car will never be wearing a badge

Yes they do, but I definitely wouldn't compare the Dakota to a new 2005 platform GC.
Unfortunately, despite product change and new models, etc. a lot of people will do what you are doing and categorize the entire company based on 1 or two product experiences. It is what the domestics are trying to overcome.

Being a previous owner of the Envoy definitely eased the apprehension I had about the TB. We've had excellent luck with the Envoy so I'm happy. I definitey wouldn't have any reservation about an SRT8 GC however. Matter of opinion like you said.

that's my two vehicles, and if I get a good deal next june I will replace the XUV with either an Envoy Denali or another SS..talked 2 of my neighbors into buying Trailblazers (one an SS & the other an EXT) as well and a third, a friend of my daughter's mother into an EXT.. they're great trucks, ride comfort, power...hopefully they replace them with another great product (fingers are crossed, maybe even some toes:D )

What rules out DCX for me is a result of the local dealer and design 'flaws'.

For more than 20 trips to the parts department over a 4 year period they had the part I needed in stock twice. Had to order parts and wait EVERY other time. When I needed to replace the ball joints, I couldn't replace just them, had to replace the whole $200+ A-arm. The brakes shook from day one. The dealer gave up and never solved the problem. (crappy ABS no doubt). I lowered it 2/3 and put 19's on it. When the tranny dumped at 27K (36K warranty) they refused honor the warranty because it was modified. Had to hire a lawyer to get them to relent. There's more.

Had a Plymouth Laser Turbo in the 90's. I had to write Iacocca on 3 occasions about crap with that car.

I have had a very different experience with GM over the years. DCX is completely done for me.
