put the TB in 4HI last night, was driving fine, however, on tight turns, it wasn't rolling easily...like if i was turning into a driveway, it would stop rolling until i put it in Auto4, then it went just fine...

any ideas? should i be calling the dealer and bringin her in for service???

thanks...
Mario

don't worry about calling the dealer, but you shoud worry about is messing up your truck by trying to make sharp turns on dry pavement in 4x4. The reason that it was ok in AWD is because the front wheel don't engage until there is slipping from the back.

In 4x4 you need to be on a surface that allows the front tires to slide while in turns, i.e. mud, snow.

4Hi is ONLY meant for slippery surfaces. What you felt was normal binding that occurs when your front and rear wheels are spinning at the same rate. Leaving it like that will cause damage.

well, we had some pretty bad rain last night and the roads were slippery...i guess i'll just use Auto4 in the rain...

all is ok with it though, right? i didnt leave it in 4hi...soon as i noticed it, i put it in auto4...

You should be fine, only use 4HI in snow or mud or the like where the ground can move when you turn. Using it on pavement is usually not a good idea, unless its icy or has snow on it.

Use A4WD for rain, and you will be fine.:D

Thanks for dragging out that link, with my Visio drawing of the turning geometry. Another member recently did the 4HI parking lot experiment, noticed the binding and scrubbing, and concluded the front differential was either locked or limited slip. The effect comes entirely from having pretty good torque lockup in the transfer case, and even fully open front and rear differentials won't matter. It's all caused by the unequal turning radius of the front differential as compared to the rear differential.
