Well, off to the dragstrip (Capital) again on Friday night. What a waste of time & money. In the future, I'll pay better attention to the weather conditions.
Temp: 78-82
Humidity: 81-93%
Track elevation: 20 Feet
Baro: 29.75
Bad night to drag race a Trailblazer SS. At least the track was empty. 1/8th tank of gas (93 of course) and here are the mods:
Vector Tune (Non-cai tune)
Drop in K&N filter
2600 Yank converter
Pulled headlight and modded bracket (opened up)
Right off the hwy, drove into tech, and drove into the staging lanes (no one in front of me). Headlight still in, "street trim"..lol...
(5:49PM)
60': 2.091
1/8th: 9.27@76.61
1/4: 14.39@95.88
(6:06PM) Pulled headlight
R/T: .565 (had to throw that in there;) )
60': 2.07
1/8: 9.12@78.09
1/4: 14.16@97.42
(6:46PM)
60': 2.03
1/8th: 9.01@78.54
1/4: 14.03@97.75
(7:48PM)
60': 2.05
1/8: 9.01@78.69
1/4: 14.04@97.58
(8:43PM)
60': 2.04
1/8: 9.04@78.68
1/4: 14.05@97.68
We packed it in after that. The temp wasn't falling and you could cut the air with a butter knife. The truck was running 'decent', pretty damn consistent anyways. I'm a bit disappointed as I had hoped to be in the mid-13 second range by now. I figured out the DA using this calculator: http://www.modulardepot.com/density.php
After correction, it's indicating 13.7's@100 mph. That MPH is more in line with what the truck 'should' run. Not to mention cooler air will result in less timing getting pulled at the launch, resulting in a better 60', which will yield a lower E/T as well. The hard & fast rule is every tenth you can pare off your 60' equates to 2 tenths at the big end. It has always worked that way in my experience.
We'll see what the coming weeks bring. I see a set of the SW headers and exhaust in my future. I may also go with a small shot of nitrous using the NX MAF plate system. That alone would probably do wonders. These trucks are just so damn tempermental when it comes to weather.
