I am in need of new breaks… My truck is at the squeaky point this I know, it is also making some kind of grinding noise, while going forward and kind of a scraching noise when in reverse. it made the noise kind of like a pully was going out, but it only has done it when i apply the breaks. So my options are a bit limited, I could do it my self but who has the time any more. Anyone have a ballpark figure on what it cost to have it done at like a local Midas or something like that? Also what is a good brand of pads to go with? Do I need to change the rotors as well,? Do the front and back get changed at the same time? Lot of questions I know, but I’ve got questions, you got answers.

The first thing that came to mind when i was reading this was that you might have debris between your pads and rotors. If this is the case you might end up having to get new rotors as well or just get them turned.

i once got a rock stuck right between the upper part of the rotor and brakes.... sat there quietly.... when I applied brakes. it scrathed the rotor..... I quickly removed it...
no harm done...

I had just the front rotors and pads replaced for around $425. I believe doing all four would cost around $600. Work was done by Merchant's Tire Kingdom.

You could have done all four corners yourself for about $340.
