Is there an advantage to having a black zinc coating on brake rotors? Should i get slotted or cross drilled, i dont want both......

I would think that black coating would get ground off the pad surface pretty quickly. not really sure what the point is

"Zinc is also used extensively to galvanize other metals such as iron (http://periodic.lanl.gov/elements/30.html) to prevent corrosion."
My guess is that it helps prevent rusty rotos

the zinc coating on the pad surface of the rotor helps with pad break. the coating on the edges and hat help reduce the rust build up that happens on the rotor to hub mounting surface, that will cause excessive rotor run-out (wrapped).
