Umm...Do you have a 4WD? If so, you can turn the selector to A4WD, which is pretty close to AWD.

I thought all the LTZ's were 4wd??

LTZ was the highest of 3 lines in 2002 (maybe 03 as well).
From my understanding you can get 2 or 4WD in LS, LT, or LTZ, and as always the trim line had no bearing on the transfer case.
I may be wrong though.
I just thought the Z indicated the TOP of the line, having EVERY POSSIBLE feature

I'm pretty sure the only AWD Tb is the SS. The rest are either RWD or 4WD

Correct, it doesnt matter which trim you get/got, 2WD and 4WD are available on all trim levels. The only exception is the SS which gets a fulltime Torsen T-3 center diff for AWD.

The trailblazer 02-05 either has:
4WD - selectable gauge above the rear wiper in the console
2HI - plastic insert same place
The 06 SS Trailblazer is the first trailblazer to have AWD ONLY - not selectable
Various Envoy models have had the AWD similar to the AWD on the 06 SS, as does the saab 97x and the buick.

Sorry, but this is wrong. Maybe you're thinking of the defunct Bravada? Also, those AWD systems are part-time, not like the SS.

That means it's 2wd with traction control. Check out the upper left hand corner of this pic and you should have the same button. (thanks for the pic jimmyjam)

The 4wd switch is in the same place and the switch looks like this (thanks gardjosh):

I was pretty sure that 2006 gave the envoy AWD instead of the selectable one... At least it's true of the Denali series\
edit: no i'm wrong... just went to the gmc website

I don't know now. I forgot about the new Denali. Doesn't that have the option of the same part-time AWD as the Rainier? I see something called "Autotrac" listed as an option.
Then again, what's the difference between the AWD in the Rainier and the A4WD setting on the other models. My '98 Bravada's AWD worked exactly like the A4WD on my Envoy.

'02 and '03 only as far as i have ever read anywhere. after '03 the LTZ was no longer, just the LS and LT :)

The GMC's including the Envoy Denali have either 2WD or 4WD, no AWD. You can get the Rainier or the Saab 9-7x in AWD.

So Autotrac is the same as A4WD?

I believe Autotrac is the type of 4wd system used.
just like QuadraDrive is the type used in Jeeps

OK, this is how it works:
02-06 TB (all BUT TrailBlazer SS AWD): 2WD or 4WD
06 TrailBlazer SS: AWD is fulltime mechanical AWD, not slip sensing. Uses Torsen T-3 center differential to split power.
02-06 Envoy (all including Denali): 2WD or 4WD
02-04 Bravada: AWD (same as A4WD in 4WD TB/Voy, its a slip sensing system)
04-06 Ranier: AWD same as Bravada system, it's the Bravada replacement after Olds died
04-06 Ascender: 2WD or 4WD
04-06 9-7X: 2WD or AWD (AWD system is same as Bravada/Ranier)
OK, I hope that clears it up. Basically, the AWD system used on every GMT-360 except for the TB SS is a slip-sensing system. Essentially, it is the same 4WD transfer case used in the 4WD trucks except it is locked in the A4WD mode. It engages 4WD when the rear wheels slip. Also, it uses a transfer case instead of a center differential like the TB SS uses. The TB SS AWD is true AWD as it mechanically splits power between the front and rear wheels at all times and can vary the torque split.
