i know alot of us here are making the ss faster and faster as parts come out, which is why a switched for my 03 to the ss my question is how much hp and tq can the stock tranny handle before needing to be upgrading internal parts. What can be done to hold the power. I plan on increasing the power and do not want to blow it nor do i want to upgrade to a 4l80

I'm not so sure the stock tranny will be fine. The Sprag broke on mine at 9600 miles. The dealer repaired it and returned it to me. They didn't line up the linkage correctly, and it was making a rubbing sound when put into Drive. I sent it back. The had to take the trans back out, and finally figured out that the new Sprag was bad as well. They won't have a third Sprag until next week because it is backorder. SPO is pulling a part from the assembly line shipment to send to the dealer. By the time I get my TBSS back, it will have been a month out of commission. I'm not a happy camper at this point........I also have very little faith in this trans as well.

I have also started a few threads on this issue trying to find some possible internal upgrades for the 4L70E prior to putting my Yank 3600 TC & B&M cooler in, but I ran into roadblock after roadblock. Very few performance transmission places (if any) have any knowledge on what the exact differences between the 4L60/65 and the 4L70 are. I said screw it and put the TC in anyways, if I grenade it, then hopefully by then I can build it stronger. I think Chris at Vector says he has a 4L70 parts list, but he is crazy busy so it may be a while before he can post it or PM it to you. When I do a heads/cam/header install this fall, i am sure it will only be a matter of time before the tranny dumps.
