Looked under my '03 TB the other night, in preps for towing a boat to Canada. Noticed I don't have a '4-flat' plug in, but I do have a round plug in spot - am I missing something, or do I have to get an adapter for the boat trailer to plug in?
Thanks!

Roger that - not being a big towing guy myself, I just assumed it would have been a 4-flat insert. Adapter it is. Thanks guys!

Yep, GM got smart and gave us a 7-pin RV connector so we can tow travel trailers from the factory without having to mod any wiring. To get the 4 (or 5) pin adapter, just goto Napa/Schucks/etc and get a 7-4 adapter. I have both 7-4 and 7-5, as the 7-5 has the extra pin for disabling the trailer brakes so I can back my Toyota Epic up. Shouldnt be more than 20 bucks max.

I'm so glad auto makers are going to the 7-pin round plug these days. My Jimmy came with an adapter from the factory as part of the factory tow package but I'm sure GM stopped doing that to save $$$.

I'm glad you guys are explaining this to me, as I wasn't sure if that was for my water hose, or an air pressure dispenser to blow out my beer bong! j/k!

Thats maybe one thing that I like about Ford...
They actually have both connectors on the f-150.

I was just thinking the same thing. My dad's Excursion has both as well.

Yea, on my 96 Jimmy (LS, no options at all but 4WD), I had UHaul put a hitch on and wire it up for towing. I had a 4 pin at the back because it was aftermarket, I dont even know what they actually come with from the factory!
Ohh, and the SS comes with a 7-4 adapter.:D
