I just pulled a code P1481 and my cooling fan sounds like a jet engine. The code said something about fan speed. It sounds like it is stuck on high. I was wondering if anyone has had this problem. Not sure if it could be a relay or if it is something else. Perhaps the fan clutch that i have heard so much about. My temp gauge has been normal, truck not overheating at all. Please help:duh:
Most certainly the fan clutch, but just unplug the harness going to it to confirm it's not the relay. If it stays on high speed, it's bad. Pre-2005 were the ones prone to early failure.
Relays hardly ever fail, but you have a point. Swap 45 and 46 - they're the only two identical ones in the front fuse block. The other one is for low beam headlights and the DRL function.
I am in the same boat. I just tried that and the relay is still good. I did replace my fan clutch. Twice. When I switch the relays, the AC is still screwed and the low beams work.
