fuel guage or stepper motor ??????
i have a problem with my fuel sending unit or it could be my stepper motor in the console not working is ther any way of checking witch it could be i dont want to drop the tank if i dont have to so please let me know what to do thanx tschay

im not sure if the problem is my stepper motor or my fuel sending unit i dont think my scan tool gets that code its not a high end scan tool so cauld i pull the cluster and check the motor like the old days if not is there any way u can think of  thanx for the quick response tschay

First, you really need to use punctuation. Your posts are really hard to read and interpret. Second, what is the gauge doing or not doing. Is the needle swinging all over the place or does it just never move? You need to tell us what the issue is.

the needle used to move when the truck was new,but now it doesnt move no matter how much gas we have in it it reads empty  ps never was a spelling major  tschay

My guess would be the sending unit. They are a known point of failure due to poor design. Normally if it is the stepper motor it will swing all over the place and stop in weird places.

By the sounds of it, one of two things, either the fuel level sensor is shot, or the gauge is not working, which in terms means the cluster assembly. Try running some "fuel treatment plus" (you can get this from your local GM dealership) let it cycle through with the guestimated amount of fuel in the tank and see if it will maybe free up any sort of contaminants that could be causing the fuel gauge reading incorrectly.
