Towing

Hey Everyone,

This is a stupid question, but i never towed a car with a SUV before.. I have done this trip with a penske truck and car carrier from them. Im moving from Mass to Ohio, i need to tow a 98 Acura Integra. The car will be on a Penske Car Carrier. Would i be able to tow the car with an 05 Envoy SLT or should i stick with getting a penske truck and towing the car with that?

Thanks for your suggestions

All depends on your engine, gearing and how much it weighs total. A 4x4 with a 6 cylinder and 342s has a 5100lb towing capacity, 373s has 5600lb towing and 6100 with 410s.

This is straight from my 05 owners manual.

Towed 5500lbs

I have an Envoy with 373s and I towed 5500 LBS for 120 miles, then through sand in 4x4 LOW. I had very minor trailer sway, but my overdrive wasnt liking it. Everytime it went up a big hill at under 60 mph overdrive started slipping and disengaging. Regardless, with stock highway tires and no lift (at the time) The Voy did great.

I would suggest towing in drive under load. It will use more fuel, but the Trans will not shift as much
