Gauges & Driver Information Center Not Working

Hello I am having problem with my gauges and the driver information below the gauges in my 2002 Trailblazer LT. It seems during wet, cool, muggy, foggy weather they both take all day to to turn on or they end up not responding at all. I can't tell my speed, how much gas I have, battery life, etc. Is this a common problem? What can I look at or do to fix this because It is very irritating.

*Update*

First off let me add two more details. The back light illumination is working just fine, and now it's been over a week and I still haven't seen the needles move so much as a centimeter or the Driver Information Center light up. I tried replacing the #24 fuse but no luck. What else can I do to try and repair the cluster panel and the DIC before I consider replacing the panel entirely. I also read sometimes this happens because the stepper motor (whatever that is) itself or the wiring for it have failed, would that have anything to do with this? I REALLY don't want to replace the panel.

This sounds like the electronics in the cluster have failed or the data bus communications to the cluster has failed. You can take a chance on replacing the cluster (you will need to have the current mileage programmed in). Or, go to a mechanic and have him check with a highend scan tool to see what the cluster is doing.
