Bose Aux input

Been beating my head against this one for a bit now, trying to get a decent aux input on my Bose in my Raiier. Let me try this angle:

Apparently, the thing has the ability to play the audio from the optional DVD player, which I don't have. Is there a way to make the thing think that the DVD player is in place? Is the audio feed from the DVD player, digital or analog? If the latter, I wonder if that's not an angle I might exploit to get MP3 audio to the head?

PAC (Pacific Audio Concepts) makes adapters to do almost anything you want. Add amplifiers, aux inputs, etc.

The one you need is an AAI-GM12-AUXV2, I believe. But there are some older models that may work. I just upgraded mine to the AUXV2, because 2004 Envoys for some weird reason wouldn't work with BAND buttons, and required a manual toggle switch to get the remote signal in using the XM or OnStar port.

(Sigh....)

Tried them.
Here's their response:
Currently there is no direct Ipod or aux adapter for your year make and model.

May we recommend an IPOD HUB ADAPTER. It will control the IPOD with a separate display and feed the audio through FM MODULATION (ie: tune in 88.5 FM to hear your IPOD)

Why is this so hard? Sheesh...

They just don't list the Rainier because it's so rare. I'd buy the one for the Envoy or TB from some place that will take it back in the rare chance it won't work. If they list the 2004 TB or Envoy, there's nothing super secret about the Rainier that can thwart the aux input. The one I just took out of mine with the switch to engage the aux inputs will work for certain. If you don't mind mounting a switch somewhere you can have a great deal on this one.

FM modulation is so last century!

FM?

I wouldn't mind FM, is the FCC had allowed the things to be powerful enough to actually work. I've already got a modulator, but the thing is so weak I can't get full quieting, even when the transmitter is sitting on my dashboard. No point in playing that game with anyone else's transmitter, they're not going to be any better. ... particularly when they're locked on 89.5, which has a 20kw NPR adffilliate on it around here.

PITA.

I'm in the same boat. I happen to have the 03 year where nothing works with the bose 6 disc setup.
its either upgrade the head unit to aftermarket (or a later year -like with NAVI)... or use FM modulation. So crappy.
This hi-end audio shop did everything they could think of. NO way around it it seems.
And all I want was an aux jack.

Boo to GM for this..

Well, now... I hadn't consider this, really, before.

What about the upgrading to the nav unit?
Let's say I manage to find one in a junker somewhere, or online. What do I need to make the conversion? Anyone ever done this?

Yes, you can upgrade to an OEM NAV setup. You will first need to determine what month your truck was built, as GM made a change in systems in the '04 model year. Some had LUX and later ones had Non LUX. This is very important so you get the correct head unit.

So, is the wiring the same, then, or does that need to be replaced, as well? How close a plug and play are we talking, here?

Search the threads.. there's a total complete writeup on this I read awhile back.

I believe if you get the right NAVI unit, it's just a matter of switching the head unit.. Course, you get the DVD and NAVI, but you lose the 6 disc option because it's one DVD/CD "drive" only... (or was it one DVD and one CD).. can't remember.
