I'll be replacing both CV shafts in abour a month. Mine leaked, but did not tear. I used hose clamps and on the highway they have held up excellently. I took it off roading this weekend and they faired just the same. Nice temporary fix if you ask me.

I brought those clamps with me on my trip knowing I'd have a small chance of them holding if the boots blew far from home. Much to my surprise, not only did it survive 300 miles home (on Michigan roads!) but it held for daily driving two more days. I was impressed. It's back in my truck tool kit now.

Hey man, I may be from Ohio but I'm no hater. Michigan is beautiful! But dang you guys have some terrible roads. If they're paved, it's cracks and potholes. I often muse that Michigan state troopers let everyone drive 90 because you have to be at that speed to pass over the pot holes without blowing a tire.

How long did it take you approx. to install this? I have a limited knowledge of suspension, is it possible for me to do this with such a limited knowledge?

3/4 day for the struts/shocks/springs/lift. Couple hours for axles. I tend to screw around and spend time looking at things a few times, inspect and learn how components interface with other components, play with things I haven't seen before, etc. If you're fast and just in it to get the job done, your time could be less.

Limited knowledge isn't a problem, that's what Trailvoy is for. Start searching and don't stop until you're comfortable - there are PLENTY of threads here with great pictures and information to help you. I will say, however, that parts of the job such as working with the coil springs is VERY dangerous and you need to take extra care. I have a lot of experience working with springs, and even I still get nervous. Having an impact wrench/power tools will make the job so much easier as well, it can be done with hand tools, but I dunno why anyone would want to.
